Pancake Day, sponsored by IHOP
Tuesday, February 24, a day that will go down in history as Pancake Day 2009! So why not draw your characters enjoying a nice stack of pancakes? I know I will.
And, to top it off, here's a REALLY weird ad for IHOP from the '60s.

Pancakes are an American invention, and we haven't chosen to export them yet. If you ever eat a pancake, you owe us royalties.Mr.Bob wrote:How come they don't have IHOP in other countries?

yes but how can it be an international house of pancakes if it's not international?

because the PANCAKES are international. they serve crepes. crepes are french pancakes. technically the name should be "house of international pancakes" but HOIP doesn't sound as good as IHOPDr Legostar wrote:yes but how can it be an international house of pancakes if it's not international?

I disagree, although they are probably better than Ihop's pancakes. But I've had some fantastic pancakes. There was this one that had cider as a topping that had been rendered down so it was a syrup... it was so freaking good...McDuffies wrote:Crepes are better anyways.

Well, there's no agreement as to what a pancake is in Germany, for one. Don't know about other countries.Mr.Bob wrote:How come they don't have IHOP in other countries?

Re: Pancake Day, sponsored by IHOP
You know, it's gotten to the point where I'm not sure what foods are predominantly American anymore. Between the fusion cooking and our unfortunate tendency to inflict fast food restaurants on other countries, it all gets kind of blurred. Not to mention the fact that we import a lot of our recipes anyhow, but just do them our own way...like American pizza. It has very little to do with what pizza originally was, but it is still sort of our take on an imported recipe. I suppose since most of us came from immigrants anyhow, it's no wonder.but I guess I never would have thought of pancakes as a primarily North American thing.

The jingle from that commercial may or may not be permanently stuck in my head.

I once had pancakes with popular webcomic author and internet personality Legostar Galactica.

It's actually not called "International House of Pancakes" anymore. They've gone from IHOP being a nickname to the actual name.
And I'd kill for Waffle House right now, though I love IHOP pigs in a blanket. SOO MANY SYRUPS!!

I saw a little 2 year old kid once put his mouth on every syrup on his table.
