So, I have this rather.. large problem.
The sample I submitted with sign up was from the middle of the comic, and naturally I wanted to change it. So, I go to CGWiki and open the "how to delete strips" - place. Now, instead of reading the whole page first, I go with the first deleting instructions I see and delete both the picture and the html-file. I notice my mistake, thinking that "Well, that's not a problem! I have this comic with this day's date, so if I do a manual update, it should post that one and generate a page for it!" Right? No.
No matter how many times I've hitted the full update, regular update and even the index update, I can't get anything to show up. Help? My site works otherwise.
And now the small questions: Do you have to do a manual index update from siteadmin every time you change something in the indextemplate.html? Or does it just magically update it? After I've replaced the old file in the /workspace, of course.
Small question number two: What about the dailytemplate.html? Do I need to do a full update for that?
EDIT: The problem seems to have fixed on it's own.
Big problem and a couple of small questions (fixed)

Well, anything in /workspace (besides comics more than 30 days old) should update automatically every day, including the index and any extra pages. You can set the time in siteadmin.
I'm not sure why your site isn't updating. Did you delete the comic from /public, or just /workspace? Is your old page still showing up? You should delete the page in /public/d, the picture in /public/comics, and the picture in /workspace/comics, but the only thing you should put back in is the comics in /workspace/comics. Unless you deleted one of your templates by mistake, you shouldn't have to replace any html; that's what the updates should do.
The first thing I'd suggest is make sure everything is in the right place with the right name. The second thing? Be patient. Sometimes new accounts can be finicky.

Re: Big problem and a couple of small questions
Yes, I've deleted the comic (and the html-file) from /workspace and /public. And my other comics are in /workspace/comics, as they should. The old image isn't showing up, there's just black index page with some text.
I guess I'll just wait and start shaping the page itself, as indextemplate.html seems to update fine (at least if I do an index update from siteadmin). Thanks for help though

Re: Big problem and a couple of small questions
First, try not to manually update stuff unless its necessary. It slows down the servers and can cause a mess on your site if you overdo it. There is a schedule you can set for when your comic updates, and when it does that, it will check your files daily to update whatever you've changed or have there to post. So yeah... its like magic.
Second, make sure that when you deleted the image from the \public_html files, that you also got rid of their \d pages as well. Then, upload fresh files into the \workspace. Doing a manual update after your new index, daily, images, and comics are in place to update shouldn't cause a mess, so do that and if it doesn't change anything... dump your browsers cache and reload. If that doesn't help, wait until after the auto update runs. Sometimes that takes care of it.
Third, patience will pay off in the long run. New accounts can be weird, sometimes the update functions mess up for a day or two and miss stuff (usually due to it being clogged up with tons of sites, manual updates, etc), and in all honesty, rushing to do things in the webcomic world only gets you in trouble. You'll mess up your site, write yourself into a corner, bite off more you can chew, etc... so if things are being weird and you're getting frazzled, just take a deep breath, step back for a bit, and then take on the challenge later once you've thought it through and maybe read the wiki/forum more.
Good luck, sorry if I repeated anything others have said, and feel free to post back if its still not working soon.
