edit: So Lego, did you guys end up celebrating the Canadian thanksgiving, too? I have to admit, when I was away in the summer, I felt a little homesick when Canadian holidays rolled around, but celebrating the local ones made me feel a little better.

we did, it was just the two of us though and we had chicken instead of turkey cause we didn't want to do the whole turkey like we did yesterday and couldn't find just a turkey breast to make. I made cranberry sauce then too. I loves me some cranberry sauce.

Yay delicious turkey! Yay 6 different kinds of pies! Hey, I know where my priorities are. Especially since one of those pies was a home grown cherry pie and the one I contributed was an excellent cranberry(fresh)-walnut pie. Funnily, we didn't actually have any pumpkin pie.

But I did have pumpkin pie ice cream on the way back from Dairy Queen. It was excellent.

And eh, it's alright to spend a little, especially if you actually need the things you're getting, since they're bound to be stupid-cheap. Hope the shopping went well.

So, I got my makeup for $12.50. and a $20 Victoria Secret gift. Then we had cheesesteak.
Most of the clothes were wintery, and since getting my coat, there's no real need for extra sweaters and stuff, so we decided not to splurge on clothes this time around.

Well, my first homecooked meal on leave was Thanksgiving dinner. Needless to say, I was stoked. My brother brined the turkey so even today it was STILL juicy and flavorful when I microwaved some up. Homemade cranberry sauce as per my mom's recipe (which was my grandmother's recipe, and quite possibly a great-grandmother's). Pumpkin pie and sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts in balsamic glaze and homemade rolls and all the other foods made it a fantastic meal. I loves me my Thanksgiving with a passion.

Woke up at 6:15 Friday morning on accident because I had no alarm set. I simply just woke up and said "well, might as well go for a run". So I did, came back, ate breakfast, and then my family went shopping. Which mostly meant walking around the mall and checking out the changes they'd made during the renovation, while trying to find my brother a new gaming PC. I told him he'd be an idiot to buy it in a store and he should go online. Finally he listened to me.

I however DID walk away with a new goodie. A brand new MacBook so I've got a computer for traveling and for Iraq, and I've now got a printer again. Uploaded the last saved state from my back-up harddrive and it was like having my desktop right in front of me in minutes. The desktop that JUST got here today courtesy of Fedex in time to be loaded Monday into a box headed for Germany.

I looked into a couple of online sales, but none of the deals seemed good enough to warrant big-ticket purchases at this time of year.

Same here, except that instead of having a moral reason for not buying a lot of gifts, it's just that I'm a cheapass.
