Useless fact I picked up somewhere: In ancient Mesopotamia, onions were the most important food.

Red onions go really well on cheddar on wheat bread. If your red onions overpower your cheese, the cheese isn't strong enough. After all, cooking is all about finding out which foods compliment each other.

And I have now acquired fresh coffee. Mmmm tasty legal drug.

I mostly agree with that, but i do like raw onions on hot sandwiches, and chopped raw onions as a side dish with certain meats, it's a Serbian thing. Also, love me some French Onion Soup.

See, IV, the rest of us can post TV Tropes too!
They are perfect for when you want to make a point, but don't actually have anything to say.
Edit: Speaking of which, I just happened to notice today that you got referenced in one of them.

Vast majority of things I cook starts with frying onions. They're pretty high on top of my food list. Though I eat them raw only in salads.

People used to eat all parts of their livestock. It was only when we got rich and could afford to be picky that some parts started to be considered too disgusting to be eaten. My mum has a century-old cookbook she inherited. She never uses it, but it's fun reading. Some of the recipes therein are pretty odd - e.g. there's one for cooked seagull. While I'm usually game for new dishes, that's not really one I'm in any hurry to try.

I could imagine eating the scientific experiments would be a faux pas.
