Hello people
I know every comic In CG has an RSS feed link (mine is this, for example), but I wonder how can I make the image make part of the feed also.
I mean, when I open the feed in Google Reader, for example, It shows all the comics, but just the links - no images. Is It possible for the feed to show images too?
Thanks!
DF

Possible, but it would be against the TOS. Part of how you "pay"for your CG account is by having the Ads and the Hosted By message on your comic. Using an rss feed to inform your readers that there are new pages up is not only recommended, but encouraged. Using the same feed to supply the comics themselves so that readers don't need to visit the site would be using CG's bandwidth without serving the Advertisements.

Re: RSS feed with images
Doc, would it be possible to add "blurbs" about the comics to the RSS feeds, as well as maybe the titles of the comics (if any) instead of just the date signature?
Re: RSS feed with images
True, Dr Neo! Didnt think of that.
What If I include some kind of advertising (say, a banner for CG) In the feed?
Well, maybe thats something I should ask CG myself.
Thanks for answering!

"Blurbs"? I don't see why not.
I'll admit that I have not looked at rss feeds too much, but I'm sure that there must be a way of setting it up or customizing it to be better than just a raw data dump. It just boils down to how much data you want transferred.

Still wouldn't work, this time due to CG's anti hotlinking systems. The only way to have your comics served by the rss feed is to have your comic on a paid host (or a really, really good free host). What If I include some kind of advertising (say, a banner for CG) In the feed?

I had a quick look, and if you want to alter the rss feed, all you need to do is download the rss.xml feed from the site (via ftp - not a browser. You want the file itself, not the data it generates). Then you edit that file. There is a basic introduction here, but I only understood about a quarter of it.
Another thing to keep in mind is how people use rss feeds. Note that it will look very different if you look at it with just a browser as opposed to a "proper" rss reader / tracker.

Heh, seems easy enough ...
One last thing: would you happen to know if we can use tags in the RSS feeds? That be pretty great if we could, otherwise to make it more exciting we'd have to manually update that file the day before an update, which isn't the worst thing though.

No, KeenTags won't work because the rss file sits on the public_html side, not the workspace side.
Some data is auto-added (such as when the last update was) but I don't know too much about how rss works.

If you want to customize your RSS, the easiest way is rsspect.com
Just upload the RSS stuff you want in a text file along with the comic. It's really easy. Then just put the appropriate tag in the <head> and you're all set.
