Noted. I'll try that out next time. I'm also looking for smaller pens for lettering exclusively.Keffria wrote:Yes, Serge, you're really showing a lot of improvement! For me, one of the biggest areas that still needs work, though, is your lettering. I know this is traditional work, so you're a little more limited, but have you considered drawing some light guidelines on your pages to keep your text from going all slant-y? I might also try using capital letters, although I'm not sure it would quite fit with the style and mood. In any case, playing with the lettering would really improve the pages' readability as well as making everything look more polished.

I do it too...ballpoint pens, or we have some thin coloured sharpies in the desk too, and I use either register tape or the back of old colouring sheets that kids leave in the museum.phact0rri wrote:ha ha... Did one yesterday, in fact:

In a weird mood. And I was not reading Dan Clowes' Death Ray last night.

I dunno. Broom Hero is funny.

Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
at my current job I can actually draw in an actual sketchbook, with actual pencils and pens. there is at least one upside to my job.
Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
I used to have this special privilege. Now I draw at work, but the drawings have to pass layout vs schematic checks, design rule checks, electrical rule checks, chip yield checks...phact0rri wrote:at my current job I can actually draw in an actual sketchbook, with actual pencils and pens. there is at least one upside to my job.

Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
I started playing around with svgs in Inkscape today.
My First .svg. D'aww.
However, I can't figure out how to adjust the canvas size. Anybody know anything?
Edit: Vort knew. Fixed.

This is primarily to get even with Claude, Phact, and Bob for mispronouncing my name, and to preempt Phact from making good on a threat:

Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
So, a while back in this here thread, I mentioned that I was drawing sketches of 31 of my favorite cartoon characters, one for each day in March. Well, yesterday was the last day of that, and unlike the vast majority of my projects, I actually finished this one! Y'all can check out the full listing in this here folder on my DeviantArt account, and the following are a few of the batch that I thought came out particularly well for being quick, half-assed pencil scratchings.
Grumpy Bear from Care Bears!

Aimee Brightower from Galaxy High!

Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice!

Simon Seville from Alvin and the Chipmunks!

Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius, from Looney Toons!

Presto from Dungeons & Dragons!

And Gadget Hackwrench from Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers!

Fwee!

Smiph Pyne Character sheet (I don't think I posted this before)
He is the ghost of a chair. This character may or may not be developed...
Oh ya,
Hiya!
Someday, someday I'll finish Confabulation. That day is not today, however.

Hmmm, I don't remember Gadget having a last name. Shows how much I paid attention.

A really shitty one. My interest is mild compared to many other people I've seen.

Just try to pace yourself and breathe into a bag if you start feeling lightheaded. If you begin to bleed from your nostrils, ears, or any other orifice, please consult your doctor.Tim wrote:Good God, man, be careful! I can't take that much nostalgia at once!

Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
Parley is funny.
Drew this in linear algebra today, on the back of an old quiz. I forgot my notebook, and accidentally grabbed a red pencil. I know that the drunk aliens thing is far from original, but I kinda hope I put my own spin on it (Just hanging out, vs. painting the town red* or whatever):

*I was on a school trip once, and we saw a WWN issue that had a headline about aliens visiting New Orleans, and it said they painted the town red. Someone asked, "How do you paint the town red?," since she was unfamiliar with the expression, and me and a friend said, "lots and lots of spray paint." We too were unfamiliar with the expression.
edit: A "Go" board and some pieces. I may try to make it a svg/javascript game if I ever get off my ass, learn javascript and figure out how to encode it.
edit edit: I should've written down projective geometry. My bad!
