The Official Livejournal Substitute Thread!

Postby Keffria on Tue Mar 25, 2008 4:41 pm

The Happy and Unhappy threads were getting too long, so here's a new one! This is a brand-new place for everyone to talk about their daily minutiae. It's like a local news station, but starring YOU, instead of the guy down the road who pulled a kitten out of a tree or found an amusing-looking vegetable in his garden!

I'm going to start things off! I got water in my shoes today and had to walk around with wet feet for my entire twelve-hour day. On the other hand, my new laptop is waiting at the campus computer store! \o/

I had a pie that was maybe 2000 calories. I'm not eating sweets again until the New Year!

I have had a very frustrating day.

Waking up too goddamn early - killing a half hour in a coffee shop, only to then realize that the bank doesn't open for ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF and I have to find something else to do. Enter McDonalds and a really rubbery awful egg mcmuffin. Bad idea.
Then add another few hours after the long bank trip, wandering around beating my head against walls because nobody is home for me to give my damn apartment app forms to. Several phone calls and one cheating payphone later and I find myself on another bloody long subway trip to give Tynan all our forms so I can go to work - which is a half-hour subway ride, a 40-minute GO train ride, and a 15-minute cab ride (goddamn durham transit buses) away.
And then work sucked, and I got home and my brother was a lazy ass and decided not to feed our pets because he wanted to watch a movie instead, there was a massive wet spot on my chair (dog likes to lick furniture, wtf), dog's been trying to crap in the house, and goddamnwhatthefuck i want to murder someone.

And if I hear one more laurel&hardy comment I will just end my life on the spot.
Yes, my name is laurel. No, I don't know where Hardy is. You are so clever I wish you would die in a horrible manner right in front of me.

we'd better get this apartment; if I've gone through all this insanity the past few days for nothing i'm going to choke a bitch.

first day back to work... and it was nine times as bad. and I guess I got a bit of my accent back while in London... cause every one was like "where are you from" then I tell them wales and they laugh at me J/k.

Think I need to work on my american pronunciation again...

I still maintain it was a Canadian accent.

I have to drive two hours Friday to fire someone, repossess his computer, escort him outta the building, and then train his replacement.

Did I mention firing people isn't my job? I can do it - I've done it before. But it sucks and sucks doubly that I really couldn't say 'no' due to office politics.

We now have a confirmed but unphotographed bandicoot in the garden. It joins the bobtail, mice, eagle, redback spiders and assorted frogs already on our block. We are yet to coax a racehorse goanna here although a neighboor has one.

I'm still stumbling around. Like, I was trying to check out this career fair, and I had to sit down! Some good news, though: Siemens has a Fairbanks office, they're hiring interns, and they're having an information session tonight. Maybe they'll hire me? :o I doubt it, but it'd probably be worth trying.

"Like dude, I wanted the job so badly that I totally showed up stoned man."

Yeah, that'll get you an internship. ;)

It's half-time, and while England is losing in Paris, Germany is winning in Basel. This pleases me =D
