Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
To quote chat because I'm just that pissed about this :
RobbyD got an email saying "So, like, uh, we owe money to the utility companies, can you sent me 77 bucks within the next few hours or we're screwed? Thanks, kiss kiss, roomate"
I can't even send it with e-banking because "someone" locked up my mobile banking after failing the security stuff, right after my bank papers went missing <_<
So I have to run out to the nearest HSBC and go fucking sort out a transfer because this guy spirits away anything that comes into the house, and then acts all pissy and high and mighty when the bills dont get payed. Fucking cunt ass bastard. I dont think I even *HAVE* 77 bucks, because I dont get any cash while I'm on f*&$^ holiday.
God *&(£$^&(*£$^*&£($"^£(*&!"£$%"* dammit.
*edit*
Ooooohohoho he can't get in contact with the other 2 roomates who left, so now its A HUNDRED AND THIRTY. I AM GOING TO EAT HIS *SPLEEN*.

Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
Okay, this is sort of long ,but I just have to say it cuz it totally freaked me the hell out.
Basically, I'm riding the bus with my friend, and I see a guy in a star wars shirt. I like Star Wars, no big thing, so I"m like "hey, dude. I like your shirt".
OMG.
This guy unleashes this 10 minute wordpuke of how much he loves Star Wars, and how he's writing serious fiction for it, and everything. I never met this guy a day in my life, and he did even give me a chance to say anything. Anytime I tried he'd go back into how much he loved Star Wars. I was so freaked out. My friend chuckled constantly and the guy never caught that I was uncomfortable. When we finally got to my dorm, I was like "There is a God!" right?? Apparently not because it was his stop too. My friend waved goodbye and I get off the bus walking towards my dorm. And Star Wars freak was following me. Now I was totally freaked out, so I was like "uhh, you live here too?" he's like "Nah, I live at the Roost".
The Roost is a dorm almost a quarter mile away from my dorm, so I was thinking "why is he following me??" I finally tell him that I don't care for Star Wars THAT much and that I was uncomfortable. He was like "oh, sorry". Then proceeds to tell me his name. I was like "Okay, I"m ____. Later" I was so freaked out. OMG. He must have had zero interaction in terms of conversation because I obviously gave many signs I didn't really give a shit about it, I was just making small talk, and he caught not a single one.
I'm unhappy because I spoke to a nerd and he was like THE stereotypical unsocial, uncool nerd and he freaked me out. If most nerds are like that, no wonder they have no friends.

Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
As much as I consider myself a nerd, I hear stories like that and realize that I guess I'm not. I've ran into weird people at cons, but nothing that creepy. And I even met the "One-man Cosby Con."
Actually, this guy may not be a nerd at all. He sounds like a fanboy.

Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
Like, I'm not gonna be all pompous and say "I'm not a nerd". I mean, that'll be a lie. I'm into comicbooks, webcomics, gaming, computers, CAD, history, political science and legal studies....I'm totally a nerd. But I'm not like....a socially inept weirdo, which to me, is what a lot of nerds are. It bothers me that someone got sooo into my talking to them about their lil "hobby" that they followed me to my dorm, without asking, who didn't know me at all, and couldn't tell that I was obviously bothered by it.

Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
Sounds like a very lonely young man just desperately looking for human interaction...
Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
Well, if you define a nerd as someone who is unsocial, uncool, and has no friends, then there really is no wonder why they have no friends =Pprettysenshi wrote:I'm unhappy because I spoke to a nerd and he was like THE stereotypical unsocial, uncool nerd and he freaked me out. Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
Are you saying that my opinion of them is why they have no friends, because I think low of them in some way? If so, then I don't really care. You can be into your lil hobbies and express your interest in things without being so socially awkward to the point of making other people uncomfortable. That's why they have no friends. My opinion of them is a result of their being that way, not the cause.KWill wrote:Well, if you define a nerd as someone who is unsocial, uncool, and has no friends, then there really is no wonder why they have no friends =Pprettysenshi wrote:I'm unhappy because I spoke to a nerd and he was like THE stereotypical unsocial, uncool nerd and he freaked me out. Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
Not at all. I was playing on what makes behavior nerdy. I doubt most nerds are like that, unless the stereotypical behavior of that guy is the most important part of the definition or "nerd" is used to define a sub-category of people that are into little hobbies or such. Sorry if my post came across as an attack on you.prettysenshi wrote:Are you saying that my opinion of them is why they have no friends, because I think low of them in some way? You also have to consider, senshi, that he might also have been freaked out because a cute girl talked to him unprompted.

Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
I'm rapidly running out of money, my macs been in for repair 4 times at a cost of £20 journey each time for them not ot fix the fault, and now its battery has died. I've got tonnes of uni work (3 compositions, 13000 words of essays), a mouse infestation in my university house, im in the final year of university so i have to plan for what im going to do after and making sure i dont fail in the mean time. Im going on a month gap year to thailand in october of which i need to buy things for and raise money for which means finding a job after uni (as i have no time now) whilst making sure my relationship with my girlfriend (who lives 6 hours away at the moment at a different uni at £60 a trip to get there) keeps top priority over everything else. Oh, and i keep missing comic deadlines because i have so much work to do im finding it hard to keep up with my one comic a week update - which is probably killing the little readership i even have.

It almost hit 60 degrees yesterday, and now we've got 10 inches of snow coming down. I was supposed to do stuff with people I haven't seen in like 800 years this weekend too and dunno if that will happen now. I hate Chicago.

Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
I know I'm coming in late to this whole "discussion," but this makes me think of the geek/nerd distinction that some people try (and, in my mind, fail) to make. Also, there's this massive group of the bad kind of nerd here that talk really loudly about DnD and WoW and 4chan memes and whatever in the most irritating way possible*. Seriously, makes me feel like laying the smack-down on them, especially when the one guy uses his fake British accent**.prettysenshi wrote:I'm unhappy because I spoke to a nerd and he was like THE stereotypical unsocial, uncool nerd and he freaked me out. * Sadly, I also talk about DnD, WoW and 4chan memes. I'd like to think that I do it quietly and in the least irritating way possible, but, really, who knows? What's to separate my "power level over 9000" remark from Obnoxious Guy's "power level over 9000" remark?
**That did give me an idea, though; What if time travelers from the future have natural accents that sound like today's false accents? I'm pretty sure that'd suck all the way around.

stereotypes usually illustrate extremes
also senshi I think thats kind of a bitchy thing to say
"he's weird so must have no friends" nerds have plenty of nerd friends.

Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
My car is in the shop. I managed to injure it at 4:00 on a Friday before a holiday weekend before the first day of my new job, and the last day of my video class, which I need to turn in my final for.
And all because why? Because I hit a brick. A brick. ONE brick! It was standing on its end, in the middle of the road, right in front of a stoplight where everyone's slowing down in the middle lane where I could hardly move all the way over to avoid it.
And my car has very very low carriage. It did not crack my oil pan. It exploded it.
Here's hoping I didn't damage the engine too badly before I managed to pull it over. It was very growly and angry at me . . .
And here's hoping the AutoShop gets word to me quickly on Monday on how bad the damage is.
*rams her head into the desk a few times* I was supposed to hang out with friends tomorrow!

Re: Revenge of the unhappy thread.
He sounded like he totally social skills, so I'm gonna assume he had no friends. There are these 4 geeks that sit where I sit every morning to eat lunch and they have normal social skills. People can sit next to them and not be weirded out, and they talk about everything under the sun in the GeekWorld. How do I know this, because I"m a geek too . This SW guy, he weirded people out.mvmarcz wrote:stereotypes usually illustrate extremes
