I surprised Beth with an "in-town" vacation at the Millenium Hotel.
Got a 50% off rate for a very nice room there. But, when we arrived and went to our room, there was a do-not-disturb sign on the door, our keys didn't work, and porn was playing, loudly, in the room.
Went back downstairs and complained and got a hugely better deal - a club-level suite with a stocked fridge of sodas, tarrycloth robes, and an outstanding view of the Arch from our bedroom. For the same rate.
Then, went to a clothing store. Beth had a 50% off coupon. They honored it, despite her picking up stuff that was "buy one get one free" and "70% off" already.
Got a free 10 mins at a back massage place, then a couple coupons for another free 10 mins.
Got free coffee at Starbucks because some lady dropped a blender lid on me accidentally.
Got 20% off my own purchase of clothing because I won a little green koosh ball toy and gave it to the sales lady, who just happened to really want one for her kid, and so she gave me her store-discount.
Won at the casino.
Overall, a nice weekend was had, with lots of little free-bees.

Crossfire: "Thank you! That explains it very nicely, and in a language that someone other than a physicist can understand..."
Denial is not falsification. You can't avoid a fact just because you don't like it.
"Data" is not the plural of "anecdote"
