Convention Season!

Post by Bustertheclown »

So, I've just found out that the Artist Alley is full at the Emerald City Comic Con, in Seattle. That makes me a little sad, but not too much. I've put myself on the wait list, and I am hopeful. Still, I plan to go and be a nuisance to those who have tables, because it was a New Year's resolution to attend more cons this year. Anyway, there's a local con that's in its second year here in Spokane, which I will definitely be a part of, so it all evens out, and then some.

I've been kinda outta the con loop for the last few years. I've been working feverishly to get some new material ready by May (that's when the ECCC happens). I was planning to make May my big Re-Entry into the world of comics, with a website and print material and everything. However, if I don't get a table at ECCC, I might just push it back to June, when the Spokane Comic Con drops.

As you can probably tell, I'm kinda excited to do some cons this year. Anyone else excited to attend some conventions this year? If so, which ones?

Hell yeah! I'm going to MegaCon in Orlando next week. It'll be the first convention I've been to. :D

I've been keeping a close eye on the Anime North website for months now. Tables are cheap (compared to the Expo, ye gads) and while I find the actual convention boring (not a huge anime fan really), I'm just looking to have fun behind a table for three days. Hand out cards, sell some crap, hang out with Dawg (and maybe the manho too, if he decides on a table).

And hopefully I can afford a table at the url=http://www.hobbystar.com/fanexpo2008]Fan Expo[/url] this year. Last year we missed out and nobody seems to know why (apparently our forms got lost in the mail or some crap), but this year i will HARASS them until they give in.

Yay conventions!

Well there's the webcomixthing. And there's something going on in Lexington in april I believe? some friends from work were talking about. Not sure if Lego or Derenge are going?

I've never done the table thing, but I'm gonna hopefully be able to get things square for a return to Toronto in September. Its such a brilliant town.

School has consumed my life so I'm only going to AN for one day this year and that's probably all I'm planning to do for conventions sad to say. I'm still hoping for the Cookout '08, but chances are looking slim do to financial issues ._.:

If you go to Anime North I can finally meet you, as I seem to be the only Ontarian who went that hasn't met you yet.

I'll be making my yearly pilgrimage to A-kon in Dallas this year in June. I know the artist of "crap I drew on lunch break" goes there regularly as well. Had the chance to meet the artist of VGcats last year too.

My season already started with working at Furry Weekend Atlanta, and I'll have a space in Artist's Alley at Momocon in a couple weeks. (I also have Outerz0ne after that, but that's not a working con, that's a hacking con!)

I'm nervous 'cause I'm still new to all this, but at least the FWA table was free, and at MomoCon I'll have a little experience under my belt to hopefully justify the $25 I paid for the space. Plus I took lots of notes at FWA that ought to help me!

Talked about going to the CN thingy, but probably can't. Vacation is almost maxed out with two wedding to attend and the STL Cookout to host. Perhaps next year.

I'm excited about going to MoCCA Art Fest- not b/c I''m affiliated with the museum, but because I can say with complete honesty that it's one of the best conventions I've ever been to (and I've been to the San Diego con). I'm also going to be tabling there.

I'm also excited about going to the NYC Comic Con.

I might go to Anime North.

I plan, barring any catastrophe, to attend the Paradise Comicon and The Toronto Arts Comic Festival.

I might also go to the Expo, but I doubt it. I used to love it, but now it's far too crowded for my liking.

St. Louis Cookout, gonna have my cousin swing by San Diego Comic Con for me (he goes regularly anyways), and maybe will be going to the Virginia Comic Con in November.
