I thought this was worthy of note - EA Games has sent out their first ever Spore Newsletter (been on that damn thing for 2 years and they finally used it). They have given an official release date:

I wouldn't get too excited about it. Remember, they set a release date for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, too.

Yeah, this was the talk of the office today. People were really excited by the videos and hands-on reviews on the internets.
I'm currently working on a game that combines the elements of Spore and Force Unleashed. I'm not sure what to call it though, every combination of "Spore" and "Force Unleashed" I can think of sounds like a hardcore porno.

They have never given us an actual release date before. They've said "Fall of 2006" and "Spring of 2007" and the like, but they've never nailed down a month and day.
