But to not be numb is to be human. And whether we like it or not, we are all human. I am not trying to sound patronizing or like an android, it is just how I feel. I am sorry. I am sorry I suck at helping as well.

Who ever said that being human was easy? I know that being numb isn't the right thing to do, but I have trouble with the alternative. I'm going to try harder, though. I'm not backing down.
You don't suck at helping, man. That was totally what I needed to hear. You don't need to apologise at all.

I met the most amazing dead person this year.
Actually, he died at the beginning of the year. On the second. I knew him only vaguely, but it's like we were destined to be close friends. He was my stepmom's best friend's son, so we hung out at family gatherings and such. My dad was going to introduce us, forgetting we'd already met. We were a lot alike, "weird and sweet," as my dad said. When he died, I learned a lot about his life. He was truly a beautiful person, and if he'd lived I know he would have done something absolutely amazing with his life. It's sad that he died so young.
But I guess there's third alternative--I'm neither numb, nor traumatized by my friend's death. I'm inspired. I'm taking the qualities I admired in him and making them mine. I'm going to try to live with the best of me and the best of him. I promised his mother as much.
This probably doesn't help, I know; it doesn't take the pain away. But it's a way that we can honor the dead.

Yes, some people say that...however, my uncle is no longer a man. So I guess he's not really my uncle anymore. Then there was the divorce, so s/he's not really my anything anymore. But s/he is a lesbian. Yup.שועל wrote:Well there are some people that say straight men lesbians?????
My aunt (who has and always will be my aunt--thank God) is doing well, considering. They're good friends now! I found this all out a year ago, but it happened about five years ago, so it still doesn't feel like it's real. Strange feeling, really.
"Your aunt is so funny!"
"Yeah! her husband is really funny too."
"Huh? OH, you mean her ex-husband--I mean wife."
"WHA?"
Luckily my childhood memories of my uncle are kind of fuzzy or it'd be pretty troubling.
I'm bored.

Well, the memories I have are of a fairly masculine, fellow. My aunt showed me her myspace and honestly she still looks kinda similar but with long hair and boobs.
I'm still pretty ignorant on the whole transgendered thing. As far as I know, my uncle's the only person I've known to go through the procedure. Kinda blows my mind, honestly. It's not an "ew, that's gross!" thing. Just.... Y'know, gender is one of those things I used to think was pretty set in stone. I'm told I'm kind of androgynous, but it's because I really don't see the point in make-up and heels, not because I disagree with my gender.

Eh just give up breathing, it shows true devotion.

Har-de-har-har. I want to LIVE and practice my religion. I decided to give up GameBoy.
Speaking of Lent, I had to defend Catholicism today. Some idiot was talking about how Catholics worship Mary (we don't). I try to explain why he was wrong very nicely but he did exactly what I expect him to do. He ignored me almost totally and then told me I was wrong. I felt like he was condemning me to hell. He didn't say it, but I got the idea. Why is it that "open Christians" often aren't open at all?
