Online Art Supply Sites?

Post by Anywherebuthere »

Anyone got an art supply site they use? I'm getting rather tired of going to my local store and either not finding what I'm looking for, or feeling like I'm taking it throught the nose.

Nup. I just stick to the local supermarket for my stuff too. But then... I don't kid myself that I'm anywhere near serious enough to bother spending serious money on art supplies. A cheap drawing pad, a fineliner and whatever pencil I can pinch from the kids and I'm happy.

I'm quite fond of Blick's. Although I frequent their real shop than the online one more often.

Blick's is the only online art store I've ever purchased from.

Blick is a good way to go for online art stuff. Bristol is cheap there.

Faber-Castel pens that I use most often, I get from a few local stores. Quills and some more fancy markers, I ask my sister to buy and mail them to me. Every time I find a new store, I browse through to see if there's anything I could use there.

I use akadotretailfor my comictone and ink supplies-they've got the japanese nibs-try one of them and you'll toss your hunt nibs into the trash .
I also use misterart for my techpen(i swear by rotrings) and craft needs- they carry a applique film that i use to make my own comic tones. i've gotten to be evil. i buy a sheet of tone i like-scan it in my computer, then print it on the film. costs me less than a dollar to do that. it's a bit harder to cut. but i like it. but sometimes it's fun to make your own tones and it gives your comic a unique style- i've used cloth patterns, patterned paper, drawn my own pattern, rubber stamps to make my own tone
I also draw and ink on the cardstock you buy from the office stores- and i also get my sharpies there. - i can be cheap
desolation angel tango-it's the end of the world and the beginning of a new one.

One of my friends that's an illustrator for a living has told me of Japanese nibs. He thought the hype was bullshit till he tried them. I gotta get some.

I'm really lucky to be back in my home town for two reasons:

1: It's the location of the best comic shop I've ever been in.

2: My local art supply store rocks. Incredible service, and fair prices.

Sorry, that doesn't help your problem in the least. It's just that this thread reminded me that it's good to have a place to shop for art supplies that doesn't make me want to turn to online retailers.

I like Texas Art Supply and you don't have to live in Texas. Moved to Florida and still ordered from them because the selections are huge and cheap. Yeehaw.
