Senoritis is worse than I have previously realized. I'm almost done with the first semester of my junior year, and I'm DYING. Like, I really and truly want to graduate and get the hell out of South Carolina. I spend most of my time on the computer looking up prices for apartments in DC and learning about the metro and its schedules, and checking up on good neighborhoods and it's crazy because I have another year and a half until it'll matter.
It's just leaving me so depressed because I have so much work to do and so much to think about before I graduate. I have to do well in all my classes, and build up a solid resume and look for a decent paying job and find an apartment and all of that BEFORE I move....it's just overwhelming, and all my friends that are juniors are experiencing the same thing.
At this point, with all this pressure and exhaustion, I'm just about ready to drop out just so I'll be done with this college thing. I'm so over it now. On to bigger and better things, ya know?

Don't give up just yet - unless you've got a solid backup plan to fall back on.prettysenshi wrote:At this point, with all this pressure and exhaustion, I'm just about ready to drop out just so I'll be done with this college thing. I'm so over it now. On to bigger and better things, ya know?
College can be insane - god knows I went through a lot of "oh hell what am i doing with my life i'll never go anywhere" days/nights. I think most people do.
At least take the time to figure out where you want to go, and start contacting potential jobs in advance. Strike up correspondence with one or two people running businesses in places you'd like to live.
A handful of people I went to college with got some kickass jobs that way - let the company know what they were doing, sent the companies a finished project or two, and the companies basically said "tell us when you graduate!"

the mythology class I want is full because people just want it as an easy class and I'm still counted as a freaking sophmore and I'm only one credit away from being a junior so I have to register with all the damned freshman and I'm just pissed off.....
Also I need permits for my drawing class because my life is just one complication after another.

I can't keep the power on at my house. There's a breaker issue in the house that makes the power flip off in one half of it every time I use the microwave and have heaters on at the same time.
There's apparently also a breaker issue on the pole beneath the meter and the power company denies any responsibility for it.
If I knew who, I'd be totally kicking someone in the head right now.

Here's the full deal, since it's now Thursday.
Branches came in after being held up for two weeks. I got a call Tuesday night from the Colonel while he was still in Reno at the Brigade conference. He had just gotten the branch info, and wanted me in particular to know what I had gotten.
Background: I've wanted Armor for the longest time. I'm fascinated with tanks and cavalry, and the firepower they wield. Since day 1 of ROTC I've been longing for Armor. My GPA, a major part of the national assessment, is low because of my past attempts at Engineering. I was borderline on if I'd get it.
My top three choices in order were Armor, Infantry, Military Police. I got as my branch, my career in the Army....Transportation. It's exactly what it sounds like. The guys who drive things from A to B, then back to A.
Woo fucking hoo. This was my 8th choice. I'm very pissed off, and the Colonel was depressed by the news. He'd even thought I'd have at least gotten Military Police since it's a big branch, but no dice.
So, for the next three years I am a Transportation Officer, and when I make Captain I'll have the opportunity to APPLY to change branches. As in no guarantee.
That's why I've been upset.

My evening at the comedy club has been awful. I was expecting Bill Bailey, and I got Boice Bailey. I was quite disappointed at that. Then one of the acts that was on turned nasty, and just started insulting people at random. Everything was crap tonight, and then to top it off, my friend got drunk and I had to escort him safely home afterwards, which was a chore.
