I'd say that this one has reached the stage where it's okay to PM either Kisai or Stredwolf. Make sure you include relavent info and links to some of the supporting posts around here.

This one is beyond my ability to help.

Sorry...
Thanks a lot for trying that out. What a bummer D:

I thought of one last thing to do before PMing the admins:

When I change my password here through my profile page, I always get a database error. This isn't particularly alarming, because that's always happened, ever since I first came here... and my password always changes sucessfully anyway. In other words, it's never been problematic before.

Still, my friend and I were thinking maybe it had something to do with that... unlikely, but it's worth a shot. So, I've autogenerated a new password for myself (via lost password form), and have not edited it any way through the error-throwing profile page, just in case that's what's gumming things up.

Terribly sorry to be such a bother, but I've PMed you the new, autogenerated password... would you please try with that, too?

Nope, that didn't work either...

However, if I put in a deliberately incorrect password, the authentication box just comes up again. Putting in the right password will get as far as the "user name not valid" even though the suggested user name is the exact username that was entered.

Unless one of those letters in your username is a special character (one of those that you need to press alt + three numbers) then there is something wrong with your account.

The last thing I would suggest (if you don't get a reply from the admins) would to be create a new forum account and use that to access siteadmin. You'd be able to add your comic to the new account and work from there.

Argh!! Sorry to waste your time, then. Thanks once more for doing that, though. Couldn't have figured it out without you.

Right, I think it's safe to conclude there's something borked with my account.

Well, I'll contact the admins...
I just saw your old Keenspace account theory in that other thread; I'll bring that up.

STrRedWolf sez: log out of the forums, then log back into the forums. Follow that up with a login to Siteadmin.

Since that's already been tried and obviously doesn't work, you can always try QuickAdmin:

http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com/quickadmin/

Some accounts had trouble from using that (see notes about Quickadmin earlier in this thread) but it may be worth a try.

Failing that, the final thing that I'd suggest would be to create a new CG forum account and link your comic(s) to the new account.

Yup, to confirm, that's what I've been doing. I've also tried with adding ?&logout and all that to fully get me out of siteadmin.

Haven't heard back from the Admin yet, but I'll let you know of the results when I do, since it seems like more than one person needs it.

Anyway, I went and created a new account. And I still can't login. :o However, on other threads I heard you suggesting a few posts be made first, so I'll see what happens after this post...

Quickadmin, however, works fine... just as the old siteadmin works. As soon as I realised it wanted my FTP login instead of my forum one, heh. Thank you for the link, I wasn't aware of Quickadmin before, and I'm sure it will come in handy.

I just tried ka0urika on other computers; still no login. Do you think I should make yet more posts with it first, or should 2 be sufficient?

If you'd like, I'll PM you the PW for that account, too, if you want to try it on your platform.

So far, though... between 2 forum accounts, and 6 computers, the main common denominator has been the comic part of my account, the Joyride part. And I don't know that there's anything we can do about that. D:

That's odd.

Focus on the ka0urika account for now, since it ought to be "fresh".

Having posted twice, try logging in to the CGWiki. It should let you. If it dies not, make one more post in the "Can't log into CGWiki" thread at the top of the help center and try again.

Assuming that you can succesfully log into the CGWiki, then try logging into siteadmin.

If both of those fail (can't log into CGWIki, can't log into siteadmin) then go ahead and pm me the details for the new account.

As it stands, there seems to be about half a dozen people from the old days who are having similar trouble and I suspect that there has been a database change that didn't pick up inactive accounts.

The admins have too much to do (not to mention all their own personal stuff plus their day jobs) and will normally only get involved when major things go down. I wouldn't bother pm'ing or emailing them since you'll probably just get ignored.

(For those that don't know, the admins at CG are unpaid volunteers who do it out of the goodness of their hearts. If you want dedicated support, talk to KeenSpot who own CG, but for the most part, the community can handle things.)

If we can't get the new forum account to take the old comic account, then you may have to abandon the old account and re-upload everything to a new CG comic account (but we'll call that one Plan B for now).

Sorry for responding so late! I had a house guest.

I did as you said. I am in fact able to log into the wiki with BOTH kaourika and ka0urika. Siteadmin still refuses to function, however.

One interesting thing is that even when I log in with all lowercase, it still caps the first letter of my name in both circumstances:
You are now logged in to CGWiki as "Ka0urika".
Does the wiki always do that?

I'll PM you the details, then.

Right, you say "inactive accounts"... but here's another kink: my account has never been inactive. At most, earlier this year during the move, I was injured and the doctor told me not to draw for three months; I didn't, but I kept uploading sketches to the index at least once a week. Aside from the odd holiday, I've never missed an update day, even if all I could do was upload a note explaining why I didn't have a new page.

Not that I can blame the Admin, but still no response. Now I kinda doubt I'll get one. =/ I think we should do more testing first, but, if it all fails, maybe you should PM an admin yourself, and present the case of multiple people? I'm sure they'd get involved then. After all, it may not be a "big deal" at this point, but it's obviously a problem that more and more people are going to have, as they return over the months.

I hate to be so difficult, but a new account is something I really, REALLY do not want to do. For MANY reasons. So yes, let's keep that as a very last resort. D:

What is going on with the updating on the autouploader, the last two pages of my comic didn't get updated on the page at all for my comic.

I've got a new gripe, and I need it fixed soon.

Every time I try to log into the siteadmin, I would get this:

array(3) { ["comic_id"]=> string(5) "28470" ["user_id"]=> string(5) "27172" ["jam_flag"]=> string(1) "0" } FAN modeJAM mode
darkheaven is not a JAMFinding FTP accounts...
SELECT user_unixname,user_id,user_password from KeenSystem.keen_users where user_id='27172'
works. Trying password
Password does not match.

I don't know what to do (*is a newbie since yesterday*). Can anyone help me?

That's a new one...

I'd say that there might be a temporary hiccup in the siteadmin since you don't normally try and log into a Jam session straight away (if you didn't already know, a "Jam" is when several people work on the same comic for a short period of time).

Assuming that you can't get in next time you try:
Q: Can you copy and paste the link here of where you are trying to sign in?
Q: Can you tell us what software you are using (OS, browser, etc)?
Q: Are you using your forum name + password?

I believe that it's working and has been for some time, so from that point of view - yes, it has been fixed.
