I'm entertained, actually. I would like to see more of the games...I think character choices can be incredibly revealing. (They've worked better for me than personality test scores.) I want to know what Jess is going to play.
And I am in agreement with the rest of you on Questionable Content.

Now you've got me wondering if Evil Girlfriend, er, I mean Jess, might actually be able to assimilate at least some of Geek culture successfully. Of course trying to guess what type of character she'll play is almost impossible until we have some idea what game they'll be playing that night. Dustin mentioned Munchkin and something called Arkham Horror as well as Magic, but Abbey firmly put her foot down on that last one! ^,^ I don't know that much about Munchkin and absolutely nothing about Arkham Horror. Can either of them be remotely considered a board game? After all, that's what Mark told Jess they'd be playing, board games.

Arkham is definitely a board game, I think. I remember checking out the box at the comic book shop I used to live near. WAY too expensive for me though.

Just because she's not a geek like Mark doesn't mean she's all bad. My friends (and one of my ex's) was totally cool with the fact that I'm a geek (though I was pretty open from the beginning about it).
Eh, a while back some of us were calling her Mark's Evil Girlfriend, back before we'd gotten a chance to see how she and Mark really get along together. Actually she's not so bad, but we still don't really know how she's going to react once she finds out just how geeky Mark and his friends really are.

Ah, Munchkin...it's a card game that's about as complicated as Go Fish, and can be equally fascinating and thrilling. That is, unless you get the jokes on the cards, which are all based upon other role-playing games and are freakin' awesome. It's a good game for new people, because it introduces simple role-playing concepts and requires all the background knowledge possessed by the average ten-year-old. I really want to see how Jess responds to Munchkin. The first time I played, I didn't know the jokes were funny and felt awkward and left out, which motivated me to figure out why everyone else was laughing. It also motivated my friends to explain the jokes.
Couples in gaming groups can be entertaining...two friends of mine who've been going out for four years (and just started college a few weeks ago) used to play characters that were foils for each other. In our longest campaign, Edmund (his character) was an uptight, very Lawful Good cleric of Pelor, and Huntress (her character) was a deeply Chaotic, mostly Good stoner swashbuckler who consistently tried to corrupt everyone, including my youthful, impressionable rogue. Their characters' disagreements were fantastic. Then, of course, there's the obvious 'crossover' option, where she plays a Romeo-type and he plays her Juliet. I'd like to see them game together, it'd be fun.

Ahhh yesh Munchkin Bites the game that you need to be a LARPer to laugh a lot to it. Most of my Cammie friends love playing that version. Although orignal has its funny moments too ^.^
Munchkin is definitely a good way to suck someone into roleplaying games. My friend and I got my girlfriend and her little sister to play it for a while, and after they grasped the rules, they got really into it. You should have seen their faces when they discovered the female only weapons. And then they found the sex change spells and things went down hill from there...
Arkham's a good board game, though huge. The damn game is more complicated than DnD at first glance. Fun, yes, but not for those new to gaming.
