I got that to contend with to, but the actual move is not till next week. Don't know how much updating I'm gonna get to, but we'll see.
I'm always amazed with how quiet that movie is. Coppolla is like Anderson in that she has wonderful soundtracks, but she uses music to a minimum here, letting the scenes speak for themselves. It's almost objective. Bill Murray performs much the same way, with great restraint. When I become rich and famous and old I'll probably be much the same way.PortableNuke wrote: Lost in Translation is awesome. Sometimes I think I like it more for being a big shoegazing music video, but the the two actors nail their performances. Bill is a master of the self-deprecating cynical dofus, and this movie plays to all his strengths.

I think that's everyone's hope.
Get old and refined then hit on hot twenty year olds.
Ms. Coppalla does have great soundtracks. She knows how weave everything together into sensory experience, and she also knows how to get the right musicians involved.
The objectivity of the movie is what makes it so engrossing. It's very natural script with situations people can relate to, and that draws people in. The audience can believe that the characters are real and can live that fantasy through them.

That is one of the lower jokes in the movie, but the rest pretty funny.
"Sometimes a bowler just has to face the music."
Roy and Ernie open the doors to the car with Roy getting out.
"And it looks like that bowler is going to be you Roy."
Ernie closes his door and drives off leaving Roy to get beaten up by the angry crowd.
