[HELP NEEDED] Quickadmin

Post by STrRedWolf »

Sticky this time.

Kisai and I are in a disagreement over Siteadmin. You've probably heard the arguments all over the place, so I care not to repeat them. Ether way, it ended up with Kisai saying "Okay, make your own!"

So here's the first step to world domination -- QuickAdmin.

We want you to test both out. Siteadmin you know where to reach. Quickadmin is here:

http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com/quickadmin/

USE YOUR COMIC USERNAME TO LOG INTO QUICKADMIN!

Currently, QuickAdmin only has comic updating. Over time I want to bring more of what Siteadmin has over, but for right now you'll want to update your comic most of all. So try it, I appreciate your feedback here.

Well, the page is quick to load.

But without a count of how many comics are in queue for updating, it's a real pain to determine if it's working or not.

I edited a sub-page and my index, and then did a regular update. Went to the SiteAdmin and saw 7000 updates in queue... not jammed mind you, it's going down. But 7000 in queue.

So I'm waiting to see if the QuickAdmin manual update I did worked.

I know I told you on the phone that an upload feature would be nice, but a count of what's in queue and or at least a clear verification that your update is queued would be way more useful.

Speaking of which, do SiteAdmin and QuickAdmin both use the same queue? That is... is my manual update sitting in that queue of 7000... sorry, 6950 right now? Or is it sitting in another queue, just waiting to steal some server time to do it's own update regardless of what is going on with the big Siteadmin queue?

I did a manual update in normal site admin to fix a little error in my pages I had done before, and it did it quicker than the queue, so that at least works.

Wrong place for this Linkara. This thread is for the new QuickAdmin that StrRedWolf is developing. But thanks for the Siteadmin update.

It didn't work for me. I got up this morning and the queue was clear, but my comic wasn't updated. I ended up using SiteAdmin. :-?

Push.

Post by Hi-bry »

Kelly.

Right now, I'd say it's a push.

I had a change to do, killing a duplicate ep on the front page. Got into Quickadmin to do a regular update, and the front page wound up with the red X where the duplicate ep used to be. Don't know if that was from the update or just deleting the ep thru the FTP.

So I tried (again) to hit Siteadmin, and lo and behold, it worked this time. So I did an index-only update, and the front page fixed itself up.

Granted, an unscientific test, but I'll do another later today. I have auctions ending today, so I'll be editing some pages. I'll try both methods again.

BTW, thanks again for your help Sunday. Take care.

Siteadmin and Quickadmin uses the same queque, but those updates should of went through.

Try it again now. I've tweaked it a small bit.

Or tell me that my browser's broken! :D Few features or not, it's good to have this alternative while <strike>siteadmin's under the weather.</strike>

Scratch that.. everything seems to work now and it likes my browser again! Huzzah!

Same story here. Finally was able to get in using Siteadmin to update, but with QuickAdmin it looks like it works but doesn't. It says:
quickadmin wrote:Update () request entered OK!
With nothing in the brackets. I assume it ought to say "regular update" or something, but instead I have the feeling it's just updating nothing, successfully.

Yesterday if I selected "full" or "front page," the respective words would show up inside the brackets, but not "regular update." Today, however, if I select anything other than "regular" I get this message:
quickadmin wrote:Can't request an update: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ComicGenesis_Cecilia'' at line 1
I'm using microsoftIE, and I've tried it in AOL, same results.

Muchos props for working on a new system to fix old problems. Hope my details help. :)

Second test.

Post by Hi-bry »

Kelly.

I did a second test just now. I updated my [stuff] page with updated auction links. I used Quickadmin first, then went to my site. The page didn't update, even after a forced refresh.

I waited for a half-hour and went back. Still no update after a forced refresh. So I went to the new Siteadmin and the page updated right away.

So right now, Kisai gets the edge.

Okay. Something's wrong with how Quickadmin and AutoKeen interact. I'll look at it.

I don't see any fixes to QuickAdmin. Hell, I still see one bug in there that was just reported! Anything but regular updates now fixed.

At least I have a way of logging to update the comic now... siteadmin hasn't been working for me for... about a month. Understandably so...but now I think I have the same problem as many others have; I try to log in to it, and it keeps rejecting me. I tried every combination I could think of, but it was all rejected. Yet, one try on the quickadmin and I was in. Thank you, thank you!

Make sure you give a report of your Siteadmin problems to the annoucement thread above! Quickadmin right now won't do logs.

I wouldn't want to bother anyone with these problems. nn;I'm sure if I wait it out a bit longer, it'll start working again. Meanwhile I can still update like I usually do..I just miss being able to check my hits. But that doesn'T matter much, I'm going on hiatus anyways x3;
Sides, if I'm having trouble, there's bound to be a bunch of other people with the same problem too.
