You know Stan Lee did a cameo like that in the Spiderman tv series too right? Spidey travels to an alternate universe and he's like "Hi, I'm Stan Lee!" Hell, for that episode he was pretty much a co star. Funny thing was Spidey takes him webslinging, and Stan Lee is just hanging on to him like... well the same way MJ would, if you get what I mean...

To my knowledge Lee got pretty much ripped off by Marvel and lended with almost no money for all the work he's done in past (I'd add that it's a crappy work but it doesn't excuse not paying him properly). I heard that he had it really bad until he managed to sell Spiderman franchise to Hollywood (and later other franchises of his). Fame is nice but one cannot live from it.

I could believe that seeing as I cant remember where I heard about Stan's lawsuits. coulda had negative spin.

All i got on Wikipedia was "Lee in 2005 filed a lawsuit against Marvel for his unpaid share of profits from Marvel movies, winning a settlement of more than $10 million." so he didnt really sell it. Think the rights wound up with Marvel the company years back. Eh, it all boggles my mind.

One other thing that comes to mind was that stan's method of writing was very heavily dependent on the artists. Which might explain why a lot of the dialogue is just saying what's plainly visible in the pictures. Though i'm not sure how true that is either. giant wasps nest.

Ah...the "Marvel" style. Vague ideas of what action should be happening written ahead of time with words decided on after the art is done...

It's not nostalgia at all, but I find oldschool Lee/Ditko Spiderman comics a lot more enjoyable than any of the recent crap they've been churning out.

Company belonged to Lee's uncle when he started working for it, I think, which might be the reason why he hasn't secured his rights with contracts well enough.

Yeah, the resurgence of the 90's trend to make everything darker has worn rather thin.

They forgot the part of the equation that says that overdone dark=melodrama and overdone dark=gothic teenagers everyone's sick of these days.
