Wow. I didn't know how much one sentence would tick people off...ryclaude wrote:that oneKeffria wrote:(2) If you look at, you know, real manga, you'll see a variety of styles, some of which don't use toner or selective colour. Or enormous eyes. Or snout noses. Or whatever other conventions you might think of. Saying that you draw in "manga style" therefore becomes kind of stupid.VIIStar wrote: ... okaaay.....
As for saying 'a manga style' was simply categorizing it in a general way, not really making any statement... there are tons of manga styles out there... manga is more of a format as opposed to one unified style as you suggest I implied.
And since I was talking with evilchihuahua about coloring individual pages and pieces, by that reference I meant that most of it is not colored, but toned (I own quite a bit of 'real' imported manga and I have not come across one book in full color like in American comics). I never said anything about noses or eyes, etc. And by saying not 'American', again I was talking about spending time coloring each page, not meaning it in a derogatory way.
You really read way too much into that. ^^;
and if anyone can loan me enough time to slog through a backlog of 150 pages (covers included) without using the ubiquitous Photoshop 'painting' (I use watercolor markers and acrylic) I’m open to suggestions...
and for the concept of me simply plucking a 'style du jour' because it's popular; I’ve been drawing strange looking people since grade school (and am 3 years out of college), though back then they were called 'elf and fairy-like' as no one knew of manga or anime. So I didn't just decide on a style and start yesterday, it's been like that for quite a while and it isn't changing any time soon

I do what I do for fun because I like drawing and writing; seriously, I couldn't care less what you guys blow off about, I took worse in college, and if I can handle being treated as second class there, a few posts here are nothing. I have no illusions of grandeur or about being / not being published etc.
(I do 'publish' in chapters, btw, check the homepage

There are what, over 8600? comics through comicgenesis and with looking at the queue maybe 3000 of those update every day. I have no doubt that if you find my stuff that offensive you can't find something else to spend your valuable time looking at. ^__~
