Website Changes

Post by 834n »

At some point over the summer I want to make the website more... gooder. This includes sizing down existing images to make it more dial-up friendly, as well as making the images better looking (new title image, new "archives, news, art, etc", new What Was, What Is, Look Back, Look Ahead, all that stuff).

Other ideas include breaking the art section into two new pages, Fan Work (to include any non-art by fans if I ever get it) and My Art (just stuff by me). I also was thinking about making the title image rotate between random characters, somewhat like what my current "Like PD, You'll like:" thing.

I don't plan on going back and fixing spelling errors on everything, but might give a few pages a look through for that.

Anyhoo, if anyone has suggestions this is where to post them. Changes to current pages (website pages, not comic pages, mind you), ideas for new pages, etc. I'm looking for ideas.

MAKEOVER!

I think the rotating character heading is a good idea, somehow it seems like it'd fit your comic. Maybe cause it worked well for the newsbox. Especially if they're being all DRAMATIC. I also think just making less excess space in general is good, you have allot of things spread out, so I support your resizing methods. (Actually a friend of mine complained about it, so it's not just me since you know my tastes). Though I wouldn't worry too much about dial up people, I mean the java for the image banner and your large pages already are going to be a pain for them, but I was on dial up for a long time and I still prefer waiting for something good then getting something not so much, fast. I support breaking up the art section as well, with the fanarts and the regular art, might be good to have a specific PD art section.

Alrighty, I've got a few ideas to reduce the amount of scrolling needed. I still enjoy having excess space to the left and right of the comic page, though. Makes it stand alone more.

Oh, while on the subject of changes, after the crossover and the guest art break PD will be going to two pages a week, though the pages should, on average, be longer than the current pages are. Does anyone have preference as to WHAT two days of the week? I was thinking Monday and Friday, but am not attached to that.

I always look at what gives the artist the most time, Monday and Friday is good to get any last minute pages done, for closer together Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday feels like more to the reader. I don't have a reading preference myself though.
