I'm not sure where the -1 magic penalty to ranged comes from. Also, ranged attack bonus is based on Dex, so you get a +2 Dex bonus there. Other than that, looks ok.

Hmm, must've thought ranged was based on STR and used the wrong box. Fixed now.

When he drops his pack it lowers his encumbrance to 53lbs which is 5lbs under the restriction for light load.

It pays to allocate your stuff.

Curse my low strength score!
My light load maximum is 38 pounds. Almost everything my guy is carrying is weapons and armor and the like, too.
I may eventually take a page out of your book, thunderhowl, and steal your trick for rations and water and the like.
Currently, I'm banking at starting out in town.

As for Tom.
That set with the 4 makes me chuckle. Can anyone say dump stat?

Yeah, with the Dwarven -2 to Charisma its going to end up a flat 2! That's a -4 modifier.

It'll be like adventuring with a High School gym teacher who is smelly and makes inappropriate jokes about the girls in class. Will the party have to make will saves not to kill me?

I can't get to those nifty pages from work so I'm going to have to make a little website for my character's stats. I'm almost done with his skills, I'll do equipment on my next break.

Hey, consider yourself lucky! I started out with a Strength score of 11 too, but my Gnome racial adjustment dropped it to 9! My Light Load max is 30 pounds and I'm already over that by at least 9 pounds! I'm gonna take a look at what I might not need to be carrying around and make some adjustments. I'm also going to look at how I might distribute his load a little more conveniently.

Edit: You know what else I just noticed? I've got arrows, but no quiver to keep them in! Why isn't there a listing for quivers in the equipment list in the PHB?

I've just gotta finish hashing the bard together and my core books are back at my apartment, which I won't be able to get to til later this afternoon. I've got a basic buildup here: http://www.3edb.com/viewCharacter.asp?cid=16099 , but it's not done yet. Used invisible castle to roll the stats.

Should be an interesting time, str 9 and wis of 8. Nothing like a smart bard who tends to fall into holes. Good thing he's got decent reflexes!

The backpack trick is pure genius guys. Unless we have to flee and leave all our food and water behind. Then it's a sucktastic plan. But hey, what's an adventure without starvation and drinking urine, right?

I just noticed that all the characters are male. Unless one of the girls wants to join us, this game is going to turn into a total sausage party. JmcV! Whip up a character already! You KNOW you wanna!

The temptation to join is definatly there but I have only played DnD once and got a lot of help for my character and kinda ummmm no core book here to speak of ^^().

So what you are saying is that you need the DM to make a PC for you, right?

If it makes you feel any better, I don't have a 3.5 core book either, just a 3.0 one. I'm behind the times!

Dude! We seriously need some female charries! Half of Simon's shtick is flirting with women! I stand ready, willing and able to help any damsels in distress who need info or assistance to create their characters for the game! ^_^

If someone wants to help me out ummm sure that would be nice. Last time I played I was a human fighter ... I did have fun with her considering the rest of my party was maybe up to my waist and all male ... ahhhh the many jokes we cracked in that game.

I've been keeping a list of the players and their characters for my own personal refernece and this is what I've got thus far:

Tom the Fanboy: ??? - Dwarf Cleric
FirstAidKit: Aeron Widanfere - Human Bard
khayankh: Elana Goldman - ??? Bard
Invaluable Kiwi: Ellimist - Elf Druid
Thanatos5150: Jakob Nightbreeze - Human Rogue
Thunderhowl: Rowan - Human Fighter
Lunaroki: Simon Burble - Gnome Rogue

That makes 2 Bards, a Cleric, a Druid, a Fighter and 2 Rogues. Not counting any players who haven't officially submitted a character yet that's 7 characters thus far. I'm just wondering exactly how big a party are we looking at here by the time we're ready to go?

I'd recommend the SRD link that Tom the Fanboy posted earlier. That will give the basebook rules you need. Once you know what you want to play I'd be happy to lend a hand building the character.
