Heh. I mostly took it as a Baten Kaitos joke. Although the mechanics in that are more "play cards in rank order, 0-1-2-3-special," thus making it less "card game" and more "random combo-based combat". Still, it sounds very familiar, especially to the first BK.

And then I read the explanation, and laughed my head off at Takato/Legendary.

Ah yes, now that I've recovered, it would have actually been amusing for a different form of punchline, where the made-up rules imply she plays a card game WITH the monster, and Antonio asks, "How do the monsters have these cards, exactly?"

But that's just me. *waits for comic to update*
