If he gets a supporting role, then he is doomed to die. It's a coolness limit inherent in many RPG's. Some characters are too cool to live, and must die to make the game more tragic.
LOTS of cameos would be cool though. But don't give him a supporting role.

A small part character that everyone instantly falls in love with? Congrats your found your Marbles, but you gotta be careful, you gotta keep giving your readers the sweet Goblin Pianist they crave, but you have to do it in small sporadic dosages or you'll overuse him and run him into the ground. Marbles and Goblin Pianists it's just Freudian enough to work....

Yeah, I really liked Frans, but I figured it would just be me. I personally think he was one of my better character designs, and I thought that a sweater-vest-wearing goblin pianist in a bar blended seediness and classiness quite well.
I have no idea why my readers were so enamored of him.

I set my ATM card's number to "0001" because I'm number one!
Probably because you encouraged them to. A bunch of sheep, that's what they are.Legendary wrote:Yeah, I really liked Frans, but I figured it would just be me. Frans is probably incredibly popular because, like Carnahan, he's something... NEW. I mean, White Mages, anthropomorphic birds, Fighters, guards, traitorous people who know hold the throne, dwarves, those are all cliches.
But goblin pianists and elven ninjas aren't cliche yet. And let's hope that they never will be.

Carnahan's NEW? Other than possibly "Rebellious Princess Vania" I'd say he's the most cliche character in the main party, the "silent mysterious 'badass.'"TakatoGuil wrote:Frans is probably incredibly popular because, like Carnahan, he's something... Only difference is that Carnahan doesn't go around dropping hints about how mysterious his past is. Much.
Play it again, Frans. Play "As Time Goes By."Tiako wrote:Somebody needs to make an avatar of Humphrey Bogart leaning on Frans' piano.
I swear, if somebody says they don't get the reference...

Elven ninja. Maybe I just suck, but that's a great and not-too-cliche combo of two very cliche things to me.
Or maybe it's because silent badasses are generally a bit different. I can't quite place it, but there's a difference in ...something... between him and Kimahri.

He never says "again". Honestly, you should be rejected from the league of goblin pianists
