Okay. Just had a quick look over the review.

It's a little briefer than I was hoping with very little to suggest anything that can be improved beyond a little stiffness in the adults (which is fair enough, to be honest, I don't draw them as often as the kids), but she'll be jake.

I am still really pleased with the comments you made, because in regards to your responses to the art and writing, you seem to have realised exactly what I'm aiming to do with School Spirit and recognised it straight away. To me, that's bloody great praise because I don't see that happening all that often in reviews such as this.

Yeah, the ears on the kids are all large with two exceptions because they are young and yet to grow into their ears (as in grow up). The two kids who have regulation sized ears are Wendy (who's dead and therefore knows a bit more about life than her age would suggest), and Chastity, who's 12 going on 25. Stuff like that showed me that you worked out exactly what School Spirit is really all about, and to me that means I've pulled it off half decently. Whether that means you come back or not is secondary.

Oh, and it's great to know somebody else appreciates humour about classic Australian rockers! Go Helen Reddy!

:D

I'll jump in again shortly once somebody else picks up Legostar Galactica again. I think I've given some sort of review on that some time ago already. I'd rather tackle one I'm not familiar with the existance of.

(Yeah I know we're done talking about this, but I just wanted to place that request/challenge. I'm done now.)
That'd be kinda boring, reading a review from someone who couldn't really care less about what they're reviewing. But I can see what you mean. Reviews don't always have to exist in extremes, and so far both my reviews have been for comics I didn't like at all. (Although G'Nerds has far more potential than DK, and I hope I remembered to write or indicate in the review that with the right direction it could improve greatly.)

If I see a comic I really have no strong feelings about, I'll try to get a placeholder in. Although now that the work week has started up again, my time might be a little crunched.

Thanks for the review keffy ~<3

I've always had major problems with pacing - and facial expressions, though that's getting a bit better. I did rework most of the older pages about a month back for a school project .... I just never uploaded them (OOPS). I'll sort through the dialogue and work on the rest.

And linkara - I mean, with the speech bubbles. Yes thicker, yes more space around the words, yes less words, and yes, put borders on the ones that don't have them. If you kept the files on seperate layers, it's not hard to fix.

Please note. My internet at home is DEAD. KAPUT. FINISHED. Blinking green light where four steady lights should be. I had about 2-4 hours of connectivity ALL FRICKIN WEEKEND.

And Monday's are my busiest workdays. ARGH. *swears in a few different languages* I'm switching to NTelos DSL today, so hopefully my home connection will be back up tonight.

Ratta fratta...

... boy, I missed a lot while I was afk, didn't I? I've got a LOT to update... ugh.

On a side note though, you guys are really doing great here. :)

Thanks for the review Linkara. I've been meaning to work on the space stuff, but both cut and paste and using black backgrounds haven't given me the results I've wanted, so that just needs work. And I updated the fanart section last week, it's entirely up to date. I appreciate the positive comments.

I'm going to play fairly ignorant newb here and ask a potentially stupid question. Are we allowed to do more than one review? :shifty:

You're quite welcome! Sad to hear the black backgrounds idea doesn't work, either. Hopefully you'll be able to come up with a solution. Really? After looking at the fanart section, I couldn't see any indication that the guest comics from the three-year anniversary last summer were listed there.

That's because the guest comics are in the archives themselves.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

she is correct, fan art gets double posted in the archives (when it comes for an anniversary) but guest comics just stay in the archives.

I review my webcomic from time to time. Sometimes my reaction is like oh well, it's not such a bad story after all. Sometime I corrected the grammar mistakes. (btw which one is correct? 'helping you get here' or 'helping you to get here?') I sometimes think my comic is lacking of action and it's monotone. Sometimes after a review I find my comic fantastic after reading other comics.

MY overall rating about SL is "I've seen better, I've seen worse".

I think my lack of readers is a reaction to my lack of updates and this one itself is a result from my lack of time.

Very belatedly, Biev, thank you for the review! And feel free to post it wherever you'd like. Actually, I wouldn't mind a link, just so that I can eavesdrop and see what other people have to say about the comic.

Though yes, I am very fond of swirly things, I'm actually not very fond of my site design... If I were to redesign it, you'd recommend some nice grey boxes or something behind the white text, perhaps?

Alrighty, people, two things. First of all, Kez... your review is finally up, my stupid connection just DIED all weekend long and really made it difficult to read the comic... or anything, really. So that's up. :)

Second of all, folks... you're doing a GREAT job with these reviews. We're only off a perfect mark by five or so, and that's awesome. Keep it up, y'all are doing great.

Thanks for the review. You have almost the exact same concerns about my strip that I have. I'm critical of my art but I think it's improving (it was really rough in the beginning); I chide myself for being too lazy to do decent backgrounds; I agonize over my occasional misadventures with anatomy; my website is an eyesore.

There are reasons for some of these issues. Regarding the website, the Keenspot ads are not chosen by me; the only choice I had in the matter was whether or not to include the skyscraper ad (that's the tall one to the right of the comic). It makes an ugly page look even uglier but I opt to include it for a reason I'm sure you can understand—I get money from it.

The lack of and/or poorly executed backgrounds are such for two reasons: I don't like doing them (that's the lame excuse), and I don't have time to do them (that's the good excuse). I'd like to spend more time making the strip look better but I don't want to compromise my update schedule, so the compromise is the backgrounds.

A final note on John's appearance; the "Roman" nose and prominent chin are intentional, they're supposed to accentuate his somewhat gaunt features. The fact that Miriam finds him attractive has no bearing on whether or not anybody else would.

Anyway, thanks again for the review. I definitely plan on working out some of the kinks when time permits.
