Then we shall rampage.
Caught in the headlamp glare of your own blinding vanity/Mesmerised by the stare of your shallow personality
Gorging the junk food of flattery you drag your fat ego around/Everyone floored by the battering you give to whoever's around
Oh Narcissus you petulant child admiring yourself in the curve of my eyes/Oh Narcissus you angel beguiled unsated by self you do nothing but die

Man, I wish that was true for me...I seem to be getting slower as I go along.

Having never actually done something in this size after scanning before, I don't really know what point font to use.

What point font do you use when you're working with a six thousand pixel tall drawing? :o

I'm not hand-lettering this, and it occurred to me before doing the final copy that I should probably know how much space to allocate for the words.

It would largely depend on the typeface. I would just bootleg it by hand lettering a scratch copy that printed to the final print size, enlarging it and printing it to production size to see how big you should make the lettering.

Hi, everybody! I'm still at the trade show in Las Vegas, but I wanted to update everyone on advertising space for the book: we still have a few more sections to sell off. I whipped up a quick ad banner while waiting for my flight to help sell some more ad space for the FCBD book. I'm thinking those of us with the PayPal donation buttons / progress bars could link to this banner instead, which will lead to this page with more information on advertising in the book.

It's a very crude banner, I know, but I will work on a better one once I return home. What does everybody think? We still have some time to finish off the ads for the book, and I'd like to sell them all off, if we can!

I'm not as satisfied with it as I could be - I'm not used to working with big stuff... or drawn stuff. And apparently I needed to practice more. But, the science is good and I like what I -do- have.

To whom do I send the full size image? And how is it my full size, 4050x6300 image is only a 3.7mb TIFF? :-?

::edit:: edited a bit to clean up ABOL and rearrange text slightly.

upload it to yousendit.com or senduit.com or something, send the link to cort.

The file is so small because it's compressed. if you were to open it in photoshop now, it'd still be about 25 megs.

I wish I didn't have to say that page is pretty damn ugly, But I feel I do, what with publication and all.

You actually thought that my artwork would compare with the other artists in this book? :eyebrow:

Compared to the sum of my other artwork, this is pretty top notch. I put a lot of effort into it; my skills are just not up to par with the other people entering FCBD.

I don't like how ABOL's shading came out, but I don't know what to do about it.

I'm going to move the n-heptane molecule down a bit so it lines up with the iso-octane molecule, and respace the text at the bottom a little before I send it off the Cort. But as far as overall quality goes, this is pretty much my best.

I don't know if it's ugly, but it's pretty damned smart.

Now I don't have to worry about buying the "cheap" gasoline.

Same here. I think kolter's purpose has a lot more to do with educating than makin' purty pictures. If he pulled a Michaelangelo for FCBD, people would feel duped when they went to actually visit his site.

Ah, I thought they were making a comic book. I stand corrected.

I'm pretty sure the point is, I couldn't pull a Michaelangelo regardless.

I updated the image a bit - My mouse went nuts last night and I couldn't use the retouch tool. Thought it was just the old version of paint I use, but it worked fine here at work.

There isn't a minimum level of quality for the FCBD. It even says so in the Wiki. I'm surprised anyone would have any illusions that I could crank out something even remotely comparable to the other much more talented artists in the FCBD this year.

I'm proud of my submission because it took a lot of effort on my part and is pretty darn good compared to what I've drawn before. It's representative of what you get at my webcomic, and I'm satisfied with it.
