I acknowledged that the points he didn't like were points I didn't like either, then possible reasons for it. That way, I defend myself, and I learn, and the reviewer wasn't attacked, and we're all happy.

I feel kind of weird being talked about indirectly... XD

I'd like to see Neko review a comic he neither hates nor loves. :) It seems he's prone to choosing comics from either extremes... well, so much it's only been comics he hates (in this thread anyway). I think that's what makes him seem a purely negative reviewer right now.

(Yeah I know we're done talking about this, but I just wanted to place that request/challenge. I'm done now.)

I'm trying to review comics I have not read before. The only one I've managed thus far was BaB, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled.

My review of Astorauth is up.

I like the idea of taking comics I've already read and applying a critical - rather than fangirly - approach to them.

Read Robin's review of my comic - very helpful stuff that I'll be trying to work at. ^_^ A few (well, okay, more than a few) points:

Coloring/Shading: Pencil sketch along with black inking using a computer. Every comic until the more recent stuff (except for character pages) was done in Paint Shop Pro and I noticed how jagged the inking was in comparison to Photoshop, which I feel has smoother paintbrushes. All the recent stuff (stuff that hasn't shown up in the comic yet) uses Photoshop. On the same level, I am aware of white casting shadows. ^_~ It took me a bit to figure out that I needed to make the white a light grey so I could actually use a burn/dodge technique on it.

Drawing: Yep, you got me on my proportions. The examples you did give (ESPECIALLY the Darkbringer one) are not my finest works and after some talks with other forum members I'm working on correcting that. I will disagree, though, on one point. IMHO, breasts ARE a "W" shape. A disconnected, rounded one, but a similar shape, nonetheless. Heck, even the red lines given in the example resemble the edges of a rounded W... of course, that's probably just my opinion. For example, the female figure here: http://www.mangarevolution.com/tutorial ... rial_id=68 has breasts that resemble a W to me, albeit with sections removed appropriately. Sure, the framework doesn't have it, but I admit I haven't tried to draw a female in this style just yet...

Writing: I have recently discovered to myself that the comic does sometimes read like a novel heavy with prose and am attempting to correct that. It's harder for exposition in some areas, but I will try to make less text for the reader to consume. And yeah, it does often preach my philosophy. I take no shame in admitting that. I also feel uncomfortable about cutting down the inner monologue. Lightbringer is the focus of the series and, subsequently his thoughts about the situation around him are important for that, along with reminding the reader of why he does what he does. However, I will take care to try to prevent him from repeating himself from one storyline to the next. One question, though - aside from a few pages where the speech bubbles were done in Photoshop and not PSP, all of the speech bubbles have black lines around them. Do you mean they should be thicker?

Site: You're not the first to comment about the idea of having a Home button. I suppose I should finally give in on this, but to me it just seems to cry lazy on the part of the reader not to have to just select some words on the URL and go back to the homepage. It also means I'll have to redo the size of the buttons, because there are already so many at the top. I'm not sure what's causing the text glitch, because it's not intentionally supposed to be so huge. I will reduce the title box's size at the next opportunity, though. I will say that I've also thought about taking out the fanart filler from the main archive and I suppose I should finally get around to doing it...

In any case, like I said, thanks for the review! It was very helpful! ^_^

Wow. :o

Neko, I would pay to see you in an insult fight with Simon Cowell. Or, if Simon is unavailable, you could fight my French teacher, who is channeling his spirit and accent.

That's not to say that your comments aren't accurate most of the time. It almost gives me a sense of morbid curiousity to see what you'd say about my comic.....

They aren't, really.. This is Ping's quick tutorial on them, look at how she drew them. They're a W in the loosest sense, it's like saying a figure is an 'i' shape- a long bit with a head on top.
Breasts don't have that line underneath them that you drew on that picture of Hannah, unless they are massive and droopy and overhanging horribly, which I really hope they aren't! Check out the lady in the first panel of Robin's comic, there. Under her boobs, there isn't one solid long line, just slight definition. That's how clothes (and boobs) fall.

...I was typing a response to this, but Komi seems to have beaten me to giving a detailed explanation.

I'll just edit my post and chime in that I do not have a "W" hanging on my chest. That's not to say that I don't draw W~ish shapes when I draw breasts - but you have to learn which parts of the underwork belong in the final artwork and which ones don't.

When clothed, breasts are rarely even definable outside of as vague lumps, much less as 'w's. Find a picture of a woman friend (or your mother, in a pinch) and sketch how their breasts fall, and how their clothing interacts with them.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

Well, that's the point now, isn't it? There is nothing sexual about your mom's boobies, so you can look at them clinically.

Well, okay, the solid line thing makes more sense to me than saying they don't resemble a W (a rounded, disconnected one), and I'm trying not to do that anymore, either, but even in Ping's tutorial, they still look vaguely W-shaped to me.

EDIT: Oh, and Legostar Galactica review's up.

No. I can see it now:

Mom: "What're you drawing, honey?"

There is no answer that is not going to come out sounding W.I.E.R.D.

Simple fact is, if I'm gonna draw a set of bre4sts, then I'm not gonna use someone I'm related to for source material.
