Help me name this lady!

Post by Fishmancomics »

(I guess this is where this thread belongs)

Imagine this...

You're a sexy(?) redhead paleobiologist who, through an accident on the job, gained the power to control amber (coating things in amber, turning things into amber, etc)...so you changed your name to Ambyr and made it your mission in life to destroy the person you think is responsible for the accident.

Also, if someone made a quick sketch of you (sans-lab coat) using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator, it would look like this:

Image

...what would your name be?

I ask because this woman is going to be in my comic sometime in the next month or so, and I don't have a pre-powers name for her.

...and I have writer's block.

Anyone want to help me out and suggest a name?

It's pronounced "Fish-muhn".

Amanda Paris.

Possibly different last name, but I think Amanda when I look at that.

I'm getting an "M" Melanie, or Melissa. And a semi-common last name, like Collins.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

The Burnstein is pretty apt, I reckon. Dunno about a first name, but I think she should just call herself Amber with an e, not a y. Spelling it with a y just looks like you're trying too hard.

Here's a great site for name-browsing:

And I know it's not what you asked about, but in that drawing at least, her arms are a little too long.

Faith McCloud. (I like names that go against personality type, and I like names with a Mc in them)

I agree about the "y" but I hope there aren't many parents who would name their kid Amber Burnstein. I mean.. say it out loud a few times and it sounds like you're stuttering: Amberber Nstein or Am Burburnstein.

BTN's good but I like this one: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

Just figure out what year she was born in and see what names looked like back then.

Personally, I'm getting Sonja or Janet. Janet Burnstein? Sonja Burnstein?

Emma Burnstein? She looks like an Emma to me, somehow. And "Emma" slides nicely into "Amber"...

The wierd thing is, she second I saw the pic, I thought "Name.... I'd go with Amber..." Before I'd even read the post and seen that Ambyr was her alter-ego.

...I'm still thinking "a" names, so I'd say April.

Boobra... er, Barbara. Because, after all, B comes after A, and she already has a name that starts with A as her alter-ego. Nice, non-assuming name.

Lucy.... But I was just listening to the Beatles, so that might be why that's popped into mind. That and the red hair.

Debra, Anna, Bernaette, Sabrina, and Sonia are names that come to mind when I see her.

Noooooo.

I hate the name Emma. Mainly because it's my name, and it's been getting way too popular these days. I never feel unique anymore. Image
