Well, today as I went to Housing to pick up a package, I went through the Student Center...where I usually go to scan my comics and artwork.
The scanner was there.
The PCs were NOT.
The Mac was there (making me think this was either an anti-PC prank or someone who realized the Mac for what it was and didn't bother... ), but it doesn't work with the scanner, and I've got a PC...
Which means either back to Photoshop or waiting it out................I think I'll probably end up being driven back to drawing by mouse rather than waiting (if I have the time, that is...*grumblegrumbleHumanitiesgrumble*
------------------

Poor Calli... <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/frown.g ...
They'll hook the PCs back up soon enough, I hope... And I'm pretty sure you can use the graphic files scanned on a *shudder* Mac on a PC, as long as you can find a program that saves into .JPG or .GIF -- (if not, how would they make web browsers work on a Mac?)
I'm editing this at work because this morning when I was eating breakfast and checking forums, I wrote "hook the scanners back up." Because I can't seem to get lab time at work, I went to check the forums again, and saw the error and had to correct it.
[This message has been edited by baka_sama317 (edited 01-30-2001).]

(The Shadows silence is very disturbing.)
Oh horror of horrors! You've been depending on the school for resources?! And, when you depend on another, they (the school in this case) let you down. Well, now is the dreaded time to get a scanner...
Hope everything turns out okay!
Dark Knight http://dk.keenspace.com/

Hope you get one of those scanner-thingies ( ) soon
Have patience... you are a very talented artist and shouldn't switch to mouse drawing now... (IMHO)
------------------

As a staunch defender of Macs everywhere, I feel I should point out that they're just as capable as PCs. Of course, being forced to switch from one platform to another really sucks (I wouldn't use a PC unless I absolutely had to, not because I don't like them, but because I'm not very good with them).
Here's hoping that you find a free (Kinko's = bad) solution to your problem!
------------------

Derak, since you mention Kinko's, I'd like to relate a story. Hopefully someone can tell me what I SHOULD have done...
Anyway. I had some CRFH fanart to scan in. So I went to Kinko's (having no scanner, and I don't think my mom would have scanned this for me at work ) and sat down at a scanner. Now this is the bad part - the only working computer/scanner setup was a Mac. So I sighed and figured what the h--, I might as well try it... So I had fun, scanned them all in (actually using the TWAIN option in Photoshop, saved them as... jpg? I think. jpg/gif) and I uploaded them to my server. Got home, tried to access the images... cue scream of agony as the stupid frigging pictures showed up, one after one, as that stupid red X IE uses. I don't have any idea *what* happened. *sniffle*

NotDamonk (yes, I conspire with that rapscallion =) says you can get an okay, pretty decent scanner for about $20 or so. So it'll be used, but what the hell, eh?
------------------
