2:14 - Flashback

Post by Tenma »

There are a lot of things I'd tell my 16-year-old self. "Don't drop out!" is only the tip of the iceberg. A lot of it would have to do with how bad the 21st century is going to suck. Of course the best thing I could tell him would be what certain lottery numbers would be on a certain day, but I digress.

Anyway, this is something I've seen done at other Forums and I'd like to try it out here. After a new comic posts, whoever gets to the Forum first posts a new discussion topic about it. (That probably shouldn't be me. It would be like writing my own Wikipedia entry.) Comic subjects are available in the news posts, and the page number is at the bottom of the comic itself.

Thanks, and thanks again for coming to the Forum in the first place. You guys know how much of a sucker I am for feedback.

I have a distinct feeling I will be posting the discussion threads... a lot. Lol.

Anyways, what should have been told to him also were winners of races, elections, etc. And telling the younger self who makes it rich while older would have been nice. XD

We'd better slow our collective roll, or we'll resurrect the Things I'd Tell My 18-Year-Old Self Meme....

Lol. That was actually really true for people of that generation. I bet if I showed that to my parents they would look at it and nod... except they were a *bit* older than 18...

Heh heh, is this one of those "I'll meet up with you in Heaven" promises?

You know, I never did that meme first time around. Next time I'm feeling nostalgic, maybe I will...

Well in all seriousness I made a tragic mistake. Caught her in the early stages of cheating eg talking to guys on the internet... And I said these infamous words " I will never leave you, you will have to tell me to go. " It took 3 years :P But hey I got my first born daughter out of the deal so it was worth it.

Gotcha, well, that shows you'll stick to your word no matter how crappy the circumstances, and that's admirable. Glad you're out of it now, anyway.

Meh, for me just the lotto numbers. Every decision I've made in my life has led me to where I am today and I'd never want to change any of it. ^^

...or maybe to tell myself not to try to search for "naked women" on altavista at the age of 10. Never knew my parents kept a record on what sites were visited. :o

(This was also before I even understood about sex/masturbation/porn, so it was like a "WTF" moment for me)

I'd tell myself to invest. Lottery numbers be damned, knowing my luck they'd be different each time around anyway and I'd still never hit em. But the stock market? Totally different.

Hell, I don't have enough money to play with investing now, let alone when I was 16.

Yeah... Investing is hard at that age. Part time jobs don't pay a lot of money in High School... I would know. XD

Heh. I was working 39 1/2 hours a week at age 16, but then again.. I'm probably about twice as old as most of you in here anyway. *shakes cane at the gathered masses*

I wish I'd started investing over a decade ago. Things would be a LOT more comfortable, especially if I'd known about 1) the dot-com collapse and 2) gas futures were going to be this frickin nuts.

Imagine if you'd invested a hundred thousand into gas futures in the time before hurricane Katrina. You know, back when gas was still about 1.25 a gallon? :p

Ah well, c'est la vie.
