Here is what I sent Voyd, and yeah, I agree with Rychon. We're using politics as a means of creating a dramatic situation in the midst of unrest, play it how you will ^^
Letter
"To the Underground
Consider me to be one more spy for your cause. You know that events have come to critical—action now must be backed with near perfect understanding in order to bring about desire: lasting good will rather than reversal of oppressors. What must be known now is this: The heir of the true Laird ((Faerie Lord)), Laisren, lives. He and his family were protected in secrecy in Dunlogan ((Fae kingdom north of current city)) to prevent Tarnovas from carrying out further kinslaying. Dunlogan is prepared to restore the heir to his kingdom. However, the city must be taken from within, by your people, mortal and faery alike, if they are to invoke his protection."
In the rest of his letter, Emory goes into detail about his findings in the city, giving the numbers, movements and rivalries of factions, the deployment of guards, the description of the city currently, what damage has been done where...
The insight involved in the letter suggests that he had been delving into the city for some time before he was found in the dungeons, but the details he gives are the most current. He is concise in the information, and emphasizes the need to move quickly, disrupting the factions before they can form a solid opposition.
I'm curious how carefully Neo was reading the letter...I guess it was displayed backwards from their perspective...Hmm. I suppose the other name may have come up in the letter, but Emory wasn't implying that she was the one on the move. Or that the preparations Dunlogan was making meant an army. But hey, this is entertaining.

And it appears we have not two, but *three* options: 1) investigate rumors of Nivali, 2) recruit people for the Underground, or 3) go after this "Laird Laisten" in Dunlogan and get him situated on his throne.
"Remember men, we are fighting for this woman's honor, which is probably more than she ever did!"
"I have no eggs. Perhaps you can direct me to a chicken."
Oh dear! Two heirs! Whatever shall we do? One appears to be good, and one uncertain. Just who is this Nivali? Is she truly an heir? Of course, both could be correct. Oh my, this has potential.
Woohoo, I've managed to confuse everybody in the thread now! >.<
Emory got rather isolated in the storyline, and so I've been trying to get to a point where I can be rping with the rest of you, 'stead of the random npc's who seem to pop up when I write on my own. Bringing him down to the Underground seemed to be the best way to do that...but if I've only thrown everyone for a loop instead, I'm truly sorry.
The fun thing we've got going here is that none of our characters has all the information about whats happening in the city. Relchenor has two stories now: the rumor industriously spread by Rychon and the letter sent by Emory courtesy of the rest of you. Now, at this point, only Rychon and Emory themselves can say what their motives are in giving information...
Rrrr, suggestions on how I can quickly and painlessly clear things up as far as confusion goes? Relchenor will take any and all of the characters in the Underground to meet with the scouts Rychon and Helgin saw come in earlier. He wants your opinion because unlike the scouts, who were up in the city for one purpose, you've been able to be first hand witnesses, to some extent, to whats going on up there. Yay, I'm so good at making things overly complicated...Let me know if you need/want an explanation of my latest posts........of course, you may not want to give me an excuse to write even more.....^^'
Question, though, how is Relchenor likely to react (Go ahead and play it, if you like) to an agent of the neighboring fae city, who apparently supports an heir to the Lordship, and has been carrying out orders in secret?
What I'm really, really interested in is getting to move with your plotlines again.

Eh heh, its three in the morning. Here goes: Relchenor was talking to Jasmine and company. I ended with his question, because I didn't know how you'd want to answer. The ~ symbol I used (without explanation, sorry) was to separate time, since my character was doing something else in the meantime.....I ended the post with Relchenor's timeline and my character's timeline meeting by having Relchenor proceed to his quarters and open the door, where the scouts have been hanging out. Hope that makes sense.
"And now back to your regularly scheduled programming."
If thou be'st born to strange sights,
Things invisible to see...
Got it, got it, massive editing of my posts it is.
Recap: Emory, under orders from leadership in Dunlogan to "Prepare the way" had been basically working crowd control, steering hearthmen away from the north gate. NPC #1, the mage, who uses the same type of magic Emory does, had been tracking Emory to find out who he was and what he's been up to. The mage led a team of scouts, including NPC #2, Braden and #3, an ice elemental. The mage used the tracking method in reverse, bringing Emory to where he and the scouts were waiting. There was a short battle between them...Emory managed to hold them off for some time until he realized that they didn't want attention from the city guards any more than he did, and understood that they were probably from the Underground. At that point, the ice elemental cast a spell to immobalize him, stronger than was necessary, since Emory didn't put up any defense against it.
Going to work, will come back and finish this....not that its terribly important anyway, but for the sake of clearing up the massive confusion I created, I might as well.
If thou be'st born to strange sights,
Things invisible to see...
The scouts took Emory down into the Underground, Rychon and Helgin spotted the disturbance and decided not to stick around. NPC #2, Braden, commented on the fact that the object of their game was not to kill Emory, and that the ice spell had perhaps been on the excessive side. NPC #1, the mage, defended the ice elemental, Tanis. He had noticed that Emory probably knew the spell was coming, and let it happen anyway.
Once he had recovered, Emory greeted the scouts like friends, letting them know he was glad that no one was seriously injured during the scuffle. The mage let the friendly tone continue, even when he let Emory know that he was suspicious of him, and felt justified in using force in accomplishing the goal of finding out just what Emory, a stranger to the city, intended to do there.
The scrutiny didn't worry Emory much. He encouraged the mage to stop taking the roundabout method of questioning, and give his 'accusation' straight out. The mage's response was to tell him that he had recognized Emory's magic, and to return the signet ring ((Obsidion with a garnet stone. He used it way back in the posts to seal a letter he sent)) the scouts had retrieved from Emory. The style of magic and the signet ring together identified Emory as the Warden for the fae city of Dunlogan.
Naturally, if a fairly important ((Don't worry, I promise not to play this up)) ranking member of the fae court north of the city turns up in secret just before the city's leadership is 'deposed' it looks rather suspicious. The mage had concluded he was there to scout in preparation for Dunlogan's invasion of the city. Emory assured him that this was not the case. He claimed that he had chosen to meet with the Underground, and wanted the scouts and the mage to trust him. However, he refused to go into detail about the purpose of his mission ((errantry)). Emory said that he believed that information was already on its way to the leader of the Underground.
The mage reminded Emory of the rather dangerous position he was in, ((unmasked, outnumbered and confined in strange territory)). It might have shown more self-preservation to comply by giving information, rather than refusing point blank to talk about it there. Again, Emory didn't seem to be concerned.
Braden, who had been listening with the other scouts, thought Emory was being arrogant. The challenge there was interrupted by knock #1. The scouts thought it was going to be Relchenor.
Instead, the door was opened by NPC #4. This man was invited in as a friend of the scouts. Emory recognized that NPC #4 was a harpist. The harpist asked if Emory was a practicing musician himself. Emory turned his signet ring into a mandolin, ((bear with me)). The harpist took the chance he didn't often get, to play with another musician. The two of them played a familiar love song. The words also meant something more to Emory. The lover in the song asks his love not to mistrust him even though there are rumors about him, or hate him until he proves that he is untrue.
Meanwhile Relchenor finished the council meeting, and since he had promised the scouts by messenger that he would come as soon as the meeting was over, and that they believed the matter to be of importance to what was going on in the city, he asked Jasmine to come to his quarters with him. This was where the scouts had been told to wait with their prisoner.
Knock #2 on the door proved to be Relchenor at last. He knew that the mage ((Who was, by the way, a warden of this city)) had taken the scouts to track down a potential threat. Thus the sarcasm in his remark when he saw Emory sitting there with his mandolin apparently on good terms with all the scouts and the harpist as well.
And now you are up to speed, as well as I can explain my mess of posting recently. *Phew*

Hm...well, Nivali is supposedly coming to town in the morning...if she exists. Rych, what are you up to?
I might give up on Scalik. I'm not even to sure of his motive other than stirring things up and pissing people off. Although as you can tell he's in league with the bartender and the bartend has made out like a bandit...though not entirely because of Scalik. Hm. I'll come up with something.
