Repetitive missions? You bet. "Here's your mission: Go beat up these guys. Good work! Now here, go this other warehouse, that looks oddly similar to that last one... now beat everyone up."Jops wrote:*snip*
City of Villains:
It's great for character design. There are so many possibilities for the char appearance that you'd spend hours just to create your char (and then, later, at the tailor shop). Unfortunately missions are very ripetitive: by the time you reach lvl 15 you start getting bored and consider creating a new char. After a while, the only missions i actually consider fun are the "rob a bank" ones. A bonus goes to the huge amount of emotes available, wich allows you to get in the main square and set up a show with a bunch of friends: these are often hilarious.
Just gotta know how to mix it up a little... ever played a Brute? Try Super Strength, level him a little, then go SMASH! I'm not much of a melee kinda of guy but good lord.. the feeling of SMASH just can't be compared. Let that fury bar, and the ememies, soar! Or get CoH and roll a storm defender... get to level 26 and launch tornados into large mobs without care for self preservation.
*KO Blows a level 1 hellion* Oooohhh.. that guy got some airtime.
And I still want an emote to throw up horns... Com'on Devs! You gave them pumkins, why not let us rock out!?
I am The Poster Formerly Known as Crossfire. Or PFKAC. ...has a certain ring to it, no?
Nope, never played a brute: in a 14 days trial i made a lvl 9 stalker, a lvl 15 corruptor and a lvl 13 mastermind.Crossfire wrote:Just gotta know how to mix it up a little... ever played a Brute? The stalker was quite irritating in that game: what's the point of being stealthy if, in the end, you still gotta beat the crap outta everyone you meet. C'mon, what about the thrill of sneaking past security?
Oh rite, there's the sneak-attack thing, but hell, but that really doesn't make up to me.
The mastermind, on the other hand, was quite amusing: i particularly enjoied yelling at my minions all the time. It made me feel so good! ^^
Despite what my choise in avatar and political affiliation might indicate, I actually avoid getting games, particularly games that I want, by torrent, excepting the occassional "oferchrissakesdon'ttheyhaveademoyetI'mnotbuying'tilIknowitworksforme"-scenario.jesusabdullah wrote:If you get the expansion, can I have the torrent?Czar wrote:Hmmm... Note to self: If I come across the expansion I'm impulse buying it.
I got the game ages ago, but can't seem to find the expansion anywhere...
For Operation Flashpoint I resorted to mail order to get the game and the Resistance expansion, might have to do that again.![]()
I'm voting pirate to protect my rights.
Så länge skutan kan gå, så länge hjärtat kan slå, så länge solen den glittrar på böljorna blå...
I'm playing Day of Defeat Source occasionally. I recently downloaded a Ultima 5 remake called Lazarus that runs on Dungeon Siege machine and played a few hours to get its mechanics down...pretty different experience from recent RPGs as it is required that you write down notes of interest literally to progress through the game.

I haven't played the first two yet, but the third is indeed most excellent.Skylark King wrote:I don't care what anyone says.. I love the Wild Arms games.Jim North wrote:Right now I'm playing Wild Arms 3 and True Crime: Streets of LA, both on PS2.
Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.

Make all the henchmen face you, then type /petsay_all <em praise>
Then stand back and watch your ego inflate.
Stalkers suck!

<shrug> I didn't really expect that to work (I half-expected to be ignored on that one), and as far as your politics, I wouldn't know. :/Czar wrote:Despite what my choise in avatar and political affiliation might indicate, I actually avoid getting games, particularly games that I want, by torrent, excepting the occassional "oferchrissakesdon'ttheyhaveademoyetI'mnotbuying'tilIknowitworksforme"-scenario.jesusabdullah wrote:If you get the expansion, can I have the torrent?![]()

I just remembered: About a month ago, I also played Outnumbered. Remember that game? It's for little kids that can't add yet. You're a super sleuth, and this criminal mastermind hides in the TV station, and at midnight something bad happens..? Anyhow, finding the little bastard involves solving simple word problems and timed addition.
I like how, when you beat it, the voice says something like, "Come on out Master of Mischief! Your reign of terror is OVER!", and the Master of Mischief comes flying out like some Tasmanian Devil, shouting, "HOW COULD YOU HAVE FOUND ME!!

In the newer Mayhem Missions, there's a type of side mission called "Smash and grab," where you break into a shop, take money, and avoid cameras. If the cameras hit you, then Longbow run in to fight you.Jops wrote:The stalker was quite irritating in that game: what's the point of being stealthy if, in the end, you still gotta beat the crap outta everyone you meet. My LJ | ComicGen CoH/V | Vampire/Amazon looking for Betas. Want to sign up? PM me. | Figure out my Avatar's joke, and win bragging rights.
And if you play a mastermind your henchmen will trip each and every one of those cameras without fail, sending SEVERAL ambushes that home in on YOU, not your henchmen, YOU. And they remain there beating you down while your buddies over they shoot at them, but they don't care becuase you called their momma fat. Then you die, and then you weep. Then a random Longbow ambush gets triggered on top of the SWAT teams, and you are then forced to run away like little girl whilst a hoard of very angry law enforcers attempt hunt you down like a dog.DarkMagician wrote:In the newer Mayhem Missions, there's a type of side mission called "Smash and grab," where you break into a shop, take money, and avoid cameras.
