What dish are you bringing to the Cookout?

Well, that and the fact that I can't take all that much luggage with me. I'll probably bring a few Norwegian snacks that are easy to transport, but it won't be anything as exotic or freaky as fishpudding.

I'd say awwww, but let's be honest. I wouldn't eat the fish pudding. Those two words just don't belong adjoining each other.

I have to confess that I'm not a massive fan of seafood* but fish pudding definitly sounds a bit contradictory for the old pallette.

They sell lutefisk around here where I am. I'll see if I can bring some.

No way in hell am I eating it, mind.

I'll try to bring (or buy once I'm there) a dip feast. It'll require no cooking. Will only need a little prep time and space in the kitchen.

I'll also be bringing brownies, of course.

All I ask is that I can go to a store and get veggie food for me Thursday night. I'll happily feed myself the 3 nights I stay at the Kolters. I don't want to be a hassle for making a separate dish for because I can't eat meat if it be served.

Leave that to me.

Provided I can get to a grocery store, and am allowed a bit of counter space and stove time at the Kolters', I'm gonna make potato skins (some with cheese and bacon, some just seasoned).

Gotcha, will not bring fish of any sort.

(I guess technically lutefisk qualifies as 'fish', although I think it's really sort of a paint remover.)

You have a problem with Norwegian dishes? Or maybe you don't like rotten fish? (Childhood in Minnesota. I've eaten Lutefisk).

Actually, this doesn't all sound that bad, to be honest. If I was to paddle my way across the Lake to join you all, I'd buy some salt and flour and cook up a good old fashioned damper for you all...

But maybe next time.

Heh...we could have an Australian Cook Out Get Together with me, Joel and Cope and all meet in the middle. Hopefully Lake Eyre still won't have any water in it...

I'm thinking of doing tortilla chips and lots of things to dip them into. But anything you bring can just be added to the feast.

I've decided that since Jim's volunteered to make french toast Sunday morning, that I'm only gonna bring one dish to the cookout instead of the two I'd planned on. This'll save a bit of kitchen space before the cookout, too! Now I just have to decide which one to make, or find something even better!

If I can smuggle it into my napsack--Or even better buy it at our airport branch--I'll provide tastey gourmet popcorn. I can bring the tradition cheese and caramel or I can give the Kolters a list of flavors and let them pick one (since they run this event). I suggest the Jalepeno Cheese one...Mmmm.
