Comics for other uses?

I've been going through some of my comics, and I had a thought, have you ever used comics for something other than...comics? You know, to put on the net for the masses to read?

I just wonder because I found this gem.

I left a file called "unfinishedcomic" in a memory stick this girl wanted with some songs she was missing and stuff.

Now, how have you used comics for reasons besides your regular updates?

I haven't done anything like that, but there was a pair of other cartoonists who got engaged like that.

Oh, there was the Hurricane katrine relief comic stuff. Don't know if that's exactly what you meant but it was for other purposes.

Education purposes. I draw my kids on the whiteboard and for displays around the room. Sometimes linked into that term's themes, but usually when talking about personal development stuff like bullying and getting along with each other.

Nice pickup line, by the way, too.

Ha, actually I had a similar use as yours (erm.. Robby). I wasn't nearly as covert as that though -- mine was just a birthday card starring my penguins (and some of the other characters that I haven't gotten online yet).

I didn't ask her out in the card, but we started dating shortly after her birthday.

I make humourous greetings cards for friends and family with a bunch of characters called the Weeblies.

I used PIH once to plug a comic called Free Z which talks about 'anti gay reformation camps' and how dangerous and rediculous they are.

Otherwise I just use my comics to get pictures of my friends topless

I'm led to believe that some people use their comics as references to get freelance jobs in illustration, webdesign and design.

I myself used comics as a way of getting affection of people since forever. I used to be very shy, but through my comics always shone my sence of humor and back in high school I won many friends that way rather than by what I was talking. Thinking more about it, I charmed a few girls with my drawings but none of them enough to make something serious out of it.
Aside from what I post on my sites and here on forums, I also sometimes send comics to my friend's mailing list, spoofs related to local issues here, tv shows etc.

Only just thinking about it, I've used comics and drawin's for everything. The most common one these days is for birthday presents, as it saves mega money. Drawings alternate between real portraits and comic portraits, but people seem to appreciate them.
I've used drawings as part of the wooing process in the past (I love the word woo), sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Last time <i>very</i> much not.

Taking a cue from Rick Veitch, I have occasionally used quickly sketched comics as a dreamlog, mostly when the dream itself was very visual in nature. I have also drawn political cartoons, which I suppose are meant to do things other than my usual webcomics, such as make people think since my comics tend to appeal to more elemental appetites (adventure, boobs, cheap laughs).
