Yeah, I know what you mean
But alot of them look like Knock offs of Newspaper comics. There's a couple that actually go to the extremity to look like Foxtrot.
Most of them aren't even original

Mary Mary quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockle shells
And pretty maids all in a row.

It's weird; some of these artists are quite good, but some of these peices are signifigantly worse than the art that was supposedly "holding the strip back". Oddly enough, some of them are fairly good, but just strike me as completly incompatable with the overall tone of the strip. It's still hit-or-miss with me as an overall product, by I would hope they at least choose one of the more suitable artists.

Some of the better examples:
#5, Rodd: sick and warped. Love it. Artwork is pretty good as well.
#27, Michael Rankin: character design reminds me of King of the Hill, only sucks less.
#32, James Mitchell: reminds me of stuff from Berke Brethed's sketchbooks
#50, Karl Kleese: the faces are hilarious. The character design reminds me of Pixar characters, for some reason...
#68, Mike Simon: the trainer and wife are perfect stereotypes. Plus, the writing was greatly improved.
#80, Tsz-fung Chow: fat anime chicks and sonic the hedgehog hairdos! Rockin'
Of course, they turned down Ghastly's entry because it was TOO SEXY.

There's something slightly divine, for lack of a better word, in perma-rect nips, though I'm still not quite sure why. And yet, despite no one apperantly knowing the reason behind their magic, they still seemingly retain the potential to cut diamond, establish world peace, and force Uwe Boll to make an intentionally good movie, all in the same afternoon. Or I could just be spouting purest bull simply because it amuses me to do so, and not really have any insight in to the peacemaking skills of the human nipple. I'll leave that for wiser folks than me to fathom, though I will admit that was rather fun to type.
