Because you have stolen from Mr.Soze, Mr Siebels. That you did not know you stole from him is the only reason you are still alive, but he feels you owe him. You will repay your debt.

Pfft...I saw most of Allen's original work while it was still in theaters and he was still something vaguely resembling good. Annie Hall had its moments, but Allen is really at his best when he's challenging the forms of film media and shaping them to his comedy ("Zelig", "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex...", "Purple Rose of Cairo"); his social commentary films generally end up whiny and narcissistic.
Now what would really be cool would be a version of Annie Hall where all the voices were badly over-dubbed to have Australian accents.
yeah, unfortunately Mad Max came out before the big "Aussies are so Kewl" fad in the 80's and the American Studio that picked up US distribution felt that they would reach a larger audience if <wildly exaggerated midwest accent> Ev-errrry Perrrsonnn Ssooowwwnnnddded Amerrricannn</wema>.

I can't say much about the majority of Allen's work, as I haven't seen it, just bits from films that I find on TV from time to time and his prose books.
I did see his last film, "Match Point", and although it is not a comedy in his usual style it is an amazing film, really got me interested in the characters and plot. I recommend it highly to anyone who manages to catch it on a theather.
