And pertinent to nothing, does anyone else think the thread title "take da poll, foo'" sounds like something Mr. T would say while ass raping someone? A nun, perhaps? I guess it wouldn't have to be rape, it could be consentiual (possibly with the exchange of $50,000 involved), but the point remains - the mental image of Mr. T having ass sex with a someone, nun or otherwise, with or without legal tender changing hands, is reason enough to post.

I thought it was a reference to equine scat.

I voted no because I wouldn't have sex for money, period. Already been offered, more then once. Never accepted. And I was homeless one of the times so I don't forsee that changing. The orientation aspect never entered into it, really.
One of the great thing about people is that we're all different. We may all have our prices but they're all different for different things. And some can be paid with money and some can't.
Personally, telemarketing is hell to me. I only fall back on it when I absolutely have to (i.e. when I am destitute and without a place to live and i need to support myself somehow). I literally hate, absolutely hate, every moment I am doing it, but it's easy money (physically, anyway) since I do it well enough that they allow me to not badger old people and such. There are other people though that love the job. It's like a dream job for them. I can't fathom it myself, but hey, to each their own.
We each have our own comfort zones and or own areas of what we find persoanlly acceptable and not. As long as we are true to our own personal codes, that's all that matters.

I did teleresearch for a while. Its just as horrible, only you get to attempt to quickly mumble "But I'm not trying to sell you anything!" before they hang up.mariesalias wrote:Personally, telemarketing is hell to me.

I would probably do it for a lot less.
I'm really too much of a tourist for the whole sexual orientation thing. In private and usual routine I'm a lesbian and a vegetarian, but if I'm provided with an interesting enough piece of meat I'll usually go for it out of novelty sake.
On that note, eating ikizukuri was a million times more fun than the 400lb Spike Speigle I met at sugoi con.

Dammit! You've been offered $50,000US for sex? More than once? Where are these horny, rich bastards when I'm poor? Like now?mariesalias wrote:Already been offered, more then once. Never accepted.

I wasn't offered cash. But I was offered a house (worth at leat $200,000) and basically financial security for the rest of my life in exchange for marriage. I just had to agree to stay together for a year and treat it like a real marriage. The guy was convinced I would fall in love with him. I was convinced I wouldn't. And money, while certainly nice, just isn't that important to me.
That's not to say I don't wonder sometimes about it. But I know myself well enough to know how it would have made me feel for the rest of my life and it's not something I could have lived with. But my own personal experiences are not the same as other people's.
I've also turned down opportunities to work in strip club type places. More about where I grew up probably then anything.

The scale of the thing was a lot less, but I had an offer to be a kept man once. Sometimes I think I was a fool to turn it down, but there is just something about being a living sex toy, arm candy, and pleasure sink that just doesn't appeal to me.

Not offended in the least honError of Logic wrote:[morbid curiosity engaged] What if you find a feminine-enough looking boy and you don't look down but pretend it's a strap-on? [morbid curiosity disengaged] I can't believe I had to ask that ... Please don't be offended.
With my psychotic penchant for precise language being what it is, I still maintain that I am, at least a little bit, theoretically bi... When I'm around most males, I know it's about way more than the penis. It's... All their male-ness. I can hang out with 'em, shoot pool, drink, tell jokes with 'em... As a buddy in the army said of me, I can "fight, fuck, & fool around with the best of 'em." But it would never occur to me to be attracted to 'em sexually or emotionally.* It's not something I have to fight or hold back - in fact I try to make it a point not to fight or qualify my attractions - it just doesn't happen.
On the other hand, I know the penis is at least part of it... 'Cause I've been close with some biological males with some pretty feminine features and energy... And just fallen short of being there.
*wince* ...there was this one man I met somewhere... (read: bar) and followed home... he called himself transgendered, and I was fine with that, so long as he was in girl mode... but when the clothes came off, he went into boy mode -hard- (no pun intended) and I re-labled him "transvestite" (hence the "he" lable) and fled.
On the other hand... There was another girl, who happened to have been born with a penis... *wistful sigh* ...Now her, I had no problem with. I never got to test the theory, but the relationship did get far enough that I had to sit myself down and ask myself "Can you do this? When you get to her place and things go that direction, can you do this?" and the answers were clear and resolute and unwavering... "I love her. I can do it with my mouth, with my hands, with my ass, or even with my pussy. I can do it happily." As it turns out, though, she disliked that errant body part more than I ever could, and I didn't end up going that far with her until after her surgery... Not for lack of trying.
Besides her, I've know four trans girls now (and two trans bois) who could have had me any way they wanted me from a sheer lust point of view... If you've watched any significance of documentarys on the subject of MtF girls, you've probably seen one of them on TV. Sadly she's into boys... But there were a few weeks when I wanted her so badly I couldn't breathe. It's still hard to email with her w/o whining "...come -on- Xxxx... try a girl... just once...?!?"
* - oddly, (or not, considering how much I like girls with muscles) I do get a pretty *coughs* pronounced reaction for a very limited set of quite masculine guys... Like S. *swoons* I saw him again at the xmas party saturday. He's like 6'6"? smart, funny, beautiful, and a solid wall of man... Like a cuter, blacker Hammer... I kiss on him and say "Hiya, Beautiful"aAnd his wife, darling girl, hangs on me like I'm wearing catnip underwear. Someday I could very well get in trouble with those two.

For what it's worth, Conan the Barbarian couldn't do it either. Christine supports cloning technology just so long as she can get a harem of clones of me. She wants six or seven of me at any given time. I'm not entirely sure what to think of that, and I've reminded her that while the clones would genetically be me, they wouldn't have experienced the life-shaping events that I have, and likely wouldn't really be duplicates of the man she loves.

If there wasn't some wild mitigating circumstance, like moving to Turkey or Saudi Arabia... Yeah. I'd have to think about that for several tenths of a second. And very, very carefully read the pre-nup. Money isn't that important to me, either... But all those other things money can buy? Like... Let's see... A couple extra Master's degrees, the freedom to do exactly as I like for the rest of my life... Art, writing, reading, learning, travel, charity work, experiencing the world on my terms... Yeah. Those are important to me.mariesalias wrote:I wasn't offered cash. I've swept floors. I've cleaned toilets. I've washed other people's filthy dishes. Nothing some lonely old man can do to me for a year can measure up to those things, especially with a $200,000 (and appreciating) real estate investment plus "financial independence" on the table. And nothing he can possibly do to me or make me do in that year can make the rest of my life one iota less rich, happy, and fulfilling. It's sex and human kindness, for fuck's sake... Dogs and cats and horses do it in public. I'm supposed to feel bad about that?
Pfft. Woman, please. I might take an extra shower or two, but after that, I would not have one bad dream. Not one moment of regret. Not one "dirty" feeling. Travelling through Europe a few years later, drawing the castles and countrysides I saw, and writing about the people I met there, and the smiles and laughter I shared with them, not one sip of the german wine I drank while sitting around a warm fire would be spoiled by the horrifying memory that once apon a time I'd been nice to some rich old man for a year.
I might, though, take a moment to close my eyes and silently thank the collective influences of my childhood for not indoctrinating me into feeling that either my body or natural sex acts were filthy, dirty, holy, private, or mystical things to be kept shamefully and fearfully hidden away until I found some one person "special" enough to "share" them with.
You know how these two phrases differ?
version 1 wrote:You are near worthless property. Breeding stock. The only thing of value that you have to offer is the wet spot between your legs and your ability to bear children to the man who owns you. And both of those are spoiled if you let another man touch you, or even see you naked.
Give up? The second cage has a shiney brass lock and a fresh coat of paint, while the first one is locked with cold, rough steel. Both say, just as clearly, that you're worth nothing except as the property of a man. Even the terminology they use... "I'm saving it."... "I'm not going to waste my special gift."... "She's got a bad reputation"... Effing infuriates me.version 2 wrote:Your body is very personal and private... Showing to just anyone shows you have no self respect. Sex is a very special bond that should only be shared between two people who love one another, and have been properly joined by God. Girls who throw that gift away disgrace themselves, their family, and God.
Now that's a whole different sack of cats. Being paid twenty dollars to let pigs treat you like a pile of semi-sentient flesh is quite different from being paid well over $200k for being nice to someone (who's trying to make you love them, and thus, presumably, being nice right back) for a year.mariesalias wrote:I've also turned down opportunities to work in strip club type places. This is the most interesting thread ever.
Unless you attribute some supernatural aspect to sexuality, there is no possible way you could argue that sex is any different than eating, sleeping or shitting. It is something that we do. Get over it.
That being said, there are some general guidelines that we use just for plain old saftey. Don't crap anywhere you feel like. Don't have unsafe sex. These are health issues.
How can you justify the mystification of sexuality?

Mistifying it is probably a bad idea, I agree. Hoping it'll be something special, the expression of deep affection between two people and, possibly, the creation of a new life, doesn't seem bad at all to me.

How can you justify the mystification of sexuality?
Sex and reproduction are very powerful drives and affect everything from physical stature to brain structure. They are integral to our laws, our relations with other people, our social organization, the concept of property. Modesty, clothes, making sure to be seen at expensive events, the fact that when women talk they usually stand face to face while men talk to each other at an angle, jealousy, aggression, doing stupid things to be noticed. You can't escape the profound influence that sex has on pretty much everything we do. It's all ruled over by powerful hormones that can affect your whole worldview and most of your actions.I have made a study of these matters. The females have a sort of internal pond in which the eggs develop. Their entire social and economic system is built around the fact that some of them have this 'pond' and others do not.
It would be bizarre in the extreme if sex didn't hold any significance.
The question is what value and significance do you place on your sexuality. For most women from the agricultural revolution down to the present sex has had to be at least partially a commodity that is traded for security. Women have babies. Men don't. When we moved from matrilocal septs to patriarchal families women have had to use their sexuality or their reproductive capacity for the means to support their children through the long, long human childhood. I'll give you a blowjob for ten bucks or marry me and I will bear you many strong sons. They both come down to the same thing. Through most of recorded history romance, love and sexual fulfillment have been nice, but survival for a woman and her children have been much more pressing concerns. It's a business arrangement that derives its value from the deep significance that sex and its consequences have for us.
Men need women in order to have children. Of course, women need sperm to conceive, but jizz is easy to come by. Eggs are much more expensive, and women tend to guard them more closely. So men have to acquire access to them. A young Maasai man might have a lot of girlfriends. When he's a warrior with his incredible hairdo he doesn't have a wife and won't have children that are considered his. When he becomes an elder he has to work like hell to get enough wealth (cows) to get wives. Young men do really fucking crazy shit. There's a reason most Darwin Award winners are young guys. A good part of the reason is to impress women with their strength, speed, courage or whatever in the hopes that desireable women will be inclined to think of them as suitable sperm donors. It's a business proposition again, but from the buyer's point of view.
People will do crazy things for love that they would never do for the privilege of taking a dump in a certain spot. They will go without so that their mates or children can eat.
Sex matters all right. If we don't notice how much it matters it's only in the same way that fish don't notice water.
"It is the difference between the unknown and the unknowable, between science and fantasy - it is a matter of essence. The four points of the compass be logic, knowledge, wisdom and the unknown. Some do bow in that final direction. Others advance upon it. To bow before the one is to lose sight of the three. I may submit to the unknown, but never to the unknowable. The man who bows in that final direction is either a saint or a fool. I have no use for either."
