Actually, they do have good games, just they account for 5% of the stuff out there (and what do you want to bet all the cynic-whiners on the site will say that's too small?). So, they have a lot of crap because it's still early in the dev. cycle of the platform.
6. Because that's the way cool orders go. It's Murphey's Law, deal with it.
7. Maybe because you ask people questions they can't give right answers to?!
8. Damn, I'm not even always going for a RIGHT answer in the first place! Half the time, I just go for laugh value. Still, I'll say half of them.

Hrm... this is probably a little late but...

quote:
1. Well, I really do not know this for certain, but I know there are a TON of symbols in the kana system. I think I once heard somewhere you need to know somewhere in at least the upper hundreds before you can really read a Japanese newspaper. Regardless, according to the Japanses Language Proficiency Test I found, you need to know 80 characters to be at Level 4 (easiest), another 165 for Level 3, and another 755 for Level 2. No requirement for Level 1 was listed on this page (http://www.kanjisite.com/kanjiframeset.html), but just from what we had there, that's 1,000 characters total, and I'm not sure if that's including derivitives and such because I'm too lazy a bastard and I have other questions to answer anyway.

Actually, here you are thinking kanji. Of hiragana and katakana there are roughly 95, not counting doubles or derivitives, but including about 4 or so ones that aren't commonly used. Kana are basically charecters based on kanji (chinese charecters) that either look somewhat like them (hiragana) or are just a portion of them, like two or three strokes (katakana). Hiragana are the simple curvy ones used for japanese words, and katakana are the ones made of straight stokes for any words not orgionally japanese. You'd need about 2000 kanji to read a newspaper, this is not including the 90 or so commonly used kana.
Class dismissed! ^.^

Actually there are 46 each in Katakana and Hiragana.. (: Then there's the B's and P's which are just H sounds with a little symbol above it, and the Doubles like Shi.
