Hey folks, just thought I'd direct your attention to something involving Namco and Pac-Man. Namco's first title in the US for GBA will be available at launch, and it'll be a version of Namco Museum. It'll be developed by Mass Media, the same ones who made the N64 and Dreamcast versions of Namco Museum, so don't expect any extra frills or anything like in the PSX Museums. The Mass Media Museums kinda disappointed me, to tell you the truth. There's going to be four games on the GBA Museum (why not more?) and they are Ms. Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaga, and Pole Position. Anyway, here's an article about it on IGN.
<A HREF="http://pocket.ign.com/news/33656.html" TARGET=_blank>http://pocket.ign.com/news/33656.html</A> <P>I'll point out another IGN page here, not only because it has bunches of cool GBA box arts (check out Mario Advance, he looks in pain), but it has another interesting bit on the GBA Namco Museum. In the previous story, they referred to the game as Namco Museum, but in the box art story, they call it Namco Museum vol. 1. Could more GBA Namco Museums be on the way? Who knows?
<A HREF="http://pocket.ign.com/news/33388.html" TARGET=_blank>http://pocket.ign.com/news/33388.html</A> <P>Namco's official GBA announced titles are Namco Museum in the US and Klonoa and Mr. Driller in Japan. Let's hope all these Namco titles and more make it to the US! Later!<P>--Klonoa
NAMCO GBA NEWS!
Here's to what's going to be the first disappointment on Gameboy Advance.. *sigh*<P>I've played the DC Museum, and not only did it not have the cool Musuem stuff.. the games only graphicaly represented what they were supposed to be.. horrible attrocities of fine games. Hell these guys might be able to make a worse Dig Dug than the previous Game Boy edition!!<P>Thanks for the news though.. Namco USA, another fine examle of greatness is US game branches *sarcasm*
I am sure the people that work there are very nice. I am just stating that they have made some "questionable" decisions in the past, regarding release of Namco games from Japan, and thier excellent US made games. Okay Pac-Man World is okay, for a Spyro rip. But Maze Madness is atrocious, and yes that's just my opinion, but I am a pretty hardcore Pac-Man fan. Now what I mean here is that the games don't have to be "Pac-Man" esque, but at least be enjoyable. Pac-Man 2 was VERY un-Pac-Man, but it was an AWESOME game. Pac-Attack on the other hand sucked balls (and yes I did own this back in the day). Lo and behooold, Pac-Attack is really Namco USA's retolling of a game called COSMO GANG PUZZLE. Yes it's a smart idea to add characters to a game to sell it, y'know Kirby's Avalance is a great game, regardless if you like Kirby or not. Mario Tennis is a fun game. Comso Gang Puzzle was not, and adding Pac-Man only made the damage greater. Well I'm rambling but I hope you see my point. I don't dislike Namco USA, I just wish they would release Tales of Phantasia and Eternia, and find somebody with decent programming skills to bring 4 of thier Namesake titles to GBA. I mean for real, the Atari Pac-Man was better than the DC hackup.
