OK! Thanks James and Strangefour! Now we're getting to some names I know!
I would've mentioned Amano earlier but I couldn't remember his name. Here's what I don't like about Amano. All his characters are emeciated and pale and icky looking. Plus his drawings are kinda too sketchy for my tastes. Now here's what I do like about Amano. He can draw monsters very very well, and that's one of the reasons why I liked the older FF games better because they basically just scanned and adapted his illustrations of monsters to use for game graphics. And even though Amano's drawings of people were weird looking, you could tell he put a lot of detail into them--especially their clothes! All sorts of intracies there. Plus having his artwork in the FF games gave the series a certain amount of character not seen in too many other video games.
Now then, that Tezuka guy. I don't remember what he did, but I do know something about one of his relatives! He's got a nephew or something in the video game business, and guess what game the other Tezuka is known for? Yoshi's Island for SNES! I kid you not, I read it somewhere!
You know who else I like? Let's see if I can remember his name...umm...that Totoro guy...ah phooey what is his name? Anyway he did Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service, which were somewhat entertaining. Princess Mononoke was very sohpisticated and Panda Go Panda was a laugh riot and a whole lot of fun!
And I think that's the basic extent of my anime knowledge, as far as remembering names go.
--Klonoa

Okay, to be quite honest I can't argue that (but I'm sure Leroy probably would), cause he's responsible for everything, as well as created some really grerat stuff (like Blackjack). However Toriyama is still my hero, and it's not just cause of Dragon Ball, it's more cause of a lot of his other works like Chrono Trigger, Dragon Warrior, Dr. Slump, and more. Toriyama's art is amazing, imaginative, and extremely distinctive. However I have to mention that Leigi Matsumoto (hope I spelled that right ^^ is also a demi-god as well.
------------------

Obviously Mutt you never saw the design pics by Amano for Zidane. He's tall, pale, lot's of jewlery, and grey hair in it. Actually Zidane in the game looks nothing like Amoano's designs.
------------------

ART, to me is too subjective.
That's why, I choose one (or two) just about every week and remain on it till the next fancy hits me.
Hello again. Been awhile since I came here. Work has actually been WORK, lately.
Currently, It's HARUHIKO MIKIMOTO (Macross, I think), Satoshi Urushihara (Lemnear, Plastic Little).. And those from the one that did the CRYING FREEMAN---- Manga-wise.

Oh yeah, Satoshi Urushihara. I love his use of color. And his execution of anatomy is as near to flawless as I've ever seen. He also does hair very well, nice gloss, lighting/shading, & wonderful volumes. Must go find some of his stuff now. *initiate websearch*
Note to Yamcha: If ya ever draw nekkid pictures again use Satoshi Urushihara as reference. He's disturbingly realistic yet simplistic when it comes to nipple topography.
------------------

That Totoro guy that many anime lovers worship is Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli makes all his stuff). He tells great stories but I think his style is old, still love my Mononoke DVD though
Tezuka is basically the one man that started anime as we know it. he did Astroboy, Kimba the White Lion, and many other things I can't remember now Anywho he did sequential manga to the point that they became lil' storyboards. The translation to animation was a logical progression from his early works. He also sorta started the big eye thing (he didn't draw them HUGE, just larger than in real life). He continued making pages of manga everyday no matter what till he eventually died. *morn*
------------------
