Hey folks. I think I'll tell you all what I did this weekend. I know most of you may not really care, but I know some of you might be interested, and it'll be fun reading anyway so join us.
On Saturday I slept in because I was recovering from being sick nearly all last week (still am, kinda). Then I went to Trade Days with my mom and her friend (one of my best friend Barrett's mom). Trade Days is like a big garage sale marketplace. For my Dallas friends, it's like Trader's Village except it's a bit smaller and it's only once every month in McKinney. My mom got a bunch of chicken stuff for herself (she collects chicken nick nacks) like a metal road sign with a rooster on the top and it said "Cock Crossing." She put the sign out front. My mom is weird. I got Tempest X for PlayStation for five bucks! I hear that game is kind of a rare find nowadays. But the big buy for me that day was when I found a Pac-Man metal lunchbox! Yay! The thermos was in it too and the whole thing was in pretty good condition. I got it for about 14 bucks, but the guy said it was valued at 50 bucks. I don't believe him for one minute, though, because you can get those things from Ebay for about 20 bucks. But I don't mind because I've been wanting one since I found out my own was missing. Just another thing to add to my extensive Pac-Man collection.
Maybe I should start a Frogger collection now, too, because also this weekend I got all of the Frogger 2 toys. I especially like the Frog shaped clock. All the toys have kind of a polygonal shape to them, like in the game. The jumping frog is cool, too, but it looks weird that you have to blow air in its ass. The air pump is shaped like a computer mouse, so that's cute. The maze game is hard because it's hard to get the marble through the maze without falling in the holes. Well, I guess I didn't get all the toys because I didn't get the checkers set. But that's OK because all the checkers set is anyway is cardboard punch-outs. Has anyone else gotten any of the Frogger toys at Wendy's? What do you think of them?
That evening me and my mom and Barrett's parents rented a couple of DVDs. My mom had just gotten finished reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil so we rented and watched that movie first. Sheesh, they should've called it Midnight in the Garden of FREAKS! Now when people see that movie, they're going to think people from the South are psychos. And we're not psychos! Well, not completely anyway. I'm glad I didin't read the book though, because my mom said that things that happened in the beginning of the movie didn't happen in the book until about 3/4ths of the way through. Ugh, I don't think I would've made it that far. Despite being a rather 'unique' movie, I still didn't like it because it was too LONG (I hate long movies) and there were no dinosaurs or spaceships or aliens or anything like that. But there was a neat squirrel at the beginning of the movie, and a weird voodoo lady, and kind of a ghost thing at the end. The other movie that we rented and watched was one I picked out, and it was a B-movie called Octopus. It was about a giant mutant octopus that attacked a sub and a cruise ship and a helicopter that got too close. And in B-movie fashion, it even had a blond lead actress whose skirt managed to grow back several times so she could rip it again. Pure MST3K material right there. Next time I want to rent this one called Beowulf. You know Beowulf, right? That one olde English epic poem? You probably had to read it in high school? Well according to the back of the DVD, it said that this Beowulf was a sci-fi futuristic updated version of the classic epic poem. Now if that isn't BAD right there, I don't know what is. Can't wait to see it. I love bad movies.
On Sunday I didn't do anything significant besides go to Wal-Mart and pick up two DVDs and a game. The two DVDs I got were Ghostbusters (it was cheap) and The 5th Element (I like to call it The 5th Elephant). The 5th Element is so cool! It's got flying taxis and a weird lady with red yarn for hair and she wears duct tape in the beginning and she kicks a bunch of ass later and there's these robot armadillo things and spaceships with evil pig things and big guns with fire and ice shooters and a blue opera singer lady and a McDonald's with...um...whoa...interesting service and it's a really cool movie. I wish I lived in the future. I showed it to my mom and she probably was very frustrated with me trying to explain to her what was going on. Here's a snippet of us talking:
Mom: I'm totally lost in this movie, so you'll have to help explain things to me.
Me: OK
Mom: Whoa, she looks mean. Is she good or bad?
Me: Good.
Mom: What's her name in the movie?
Me: Um...The 5th Element lady.
Mom: You don't remember? What's the name of the actress who plays her.
Me: Um...I dunno. I think it's like Vanilla Sandwich or something.
Mom: How many times have you seen this movie?
Me: A lot.
Mom: And you don't remember peoples names from it?
Me: Nope.
Mom: Sheesh, you're hopeless.
And the game I got was a working copy of Ridge Racer V. You know, cuz my free copy wasn't working right? Well anyway I LOVE the comments my mom said about that game when she looked at the box, so here they are:
Mom: Ah-ha! So Namco made that game, huh? So you would've bought it even if it sucked, huh?
Me: Hey!
Mom: And that lady on the back of the box is UGLY! What does she do, drive the cars?
Me: Whoa, you think the same way I do! But no, she doesn't really do anything cool like that. She just stands there looking weird.
Mom: Well why do they have her in the game at all?
Me: I've been asking the same thing for quite some time now. I guess some things are best left unanswered.
But anyway I'll let you all know when I unlock Pac-Man Racing. It'll be a little while, though, because you have to drive 2000 miles before that happens, and I've only driven 75 miles. But I only played that game for a little while yesterday only, so it won't take TOO long to unlock it. Then I'll tell you all the details about Pac-Man Racing.
--Klonoa

I have a kind of place like that near me, in a little town called Webster.
The flea market makes the whole town.
I've found some cool stuff though.
I got some G. I. Joes, FF Mystic Quest (That game rocks, dammit!! Reuben Rules!)
Contra for the NES, and a copy of Cap. Vs. SNK for 15 bucks, book and everything, no scratches!
As for the people of the south not being pyschos...
*looks at himself, and his rooms*
Uh, yea, we're normal.. really..
Quiet, Mr Sancho!
