Oh, no. Not again. *sigh*
Tenchi Muyo (the origional OVAs) is one of my fav series admittedly, but not continuing that to any real end and instead redueing ethew storyline over and over and over till the lil' brown cat-bunny (yeah, yeah cabbit) is mutated over the retellings into a giant piny sumo mecha!?!? has pissed me off. As far as I care the 3rd movie ended it for ever. As it should Ryoko gets to bang Tenchi:P
So I say... DAMNIT START SOMETHING ORIGIONAL!!! Like animating Slut Girl^^;
------------------

http://www.keenspace.com/forums/tongue.gif"> Shut up, Leroy.
I for one am very happy that they have decided to finish the series. The 3rd movie was supposed to be the final chapter, but it just wasn't enough for me. That movie sucked and TM! deserves to end on a better note w/its fans than it did. I'm looking forward to it and am optimistic about it. I'm already ready for its American release! ^.^v
------------------

Hey, it's Tenchi Muyo!. I'm gonna watch it. I know that it's not the best anime show ever. Hell, I'll be the first one to tell you how much I hated the 2nd and 3rd movie and I can go off on a whole critique of the good and bad of STM! (or Tenchi in Tokyo), but I love the show. First anime I watched. I don't expect everyone to like it. I may not even like this new OAV series, but I'm going to see watch it in its entirety. Doesn't really matter if anyone else does, but I will. ^_^
------------------

i liked the originals too and i think most people did but im gonna have to side with leroy and strange on this. no need for another sequel. anyone like to help me guess at the story? everyone is happy at tenchi's house AGAIN. introduce scary badguy with cool ass jacket and excessories. badguy creates hot girl to lure tenchi. tenchi follows her around for a couple episodes then washu discovers her secrets AGAIN. badguy destroys hot girl in front of tenchi. badguy laughs. badguy and tenchi fight. tenchi forms bigger and badder sword then the last sequel. tenchi kills badguy. everyone lives happily ever after.
------------------

cool, its just tired. let it rest. introducing another badguy is weak and or mysterious cute girl. how many times are they gonna do that? can u say formula? for me tenchi ends after the original 12 or 13 oavs. thats how i like to remember it.
------------------

The only thing is, they didn't really end the OAV series. They introduced more of the royal family of Jurai and a really cool evil goddess and left it at that. No real character development or conclusion to it. I really do want them to end it. The 3rd movie did show how worn out it is becoming. I really don't want it to become like Slayers and go on and on w/the same, unfunny thing for 15 billion episodes. It really does just need to come to a final conclusion and be put to rest peacefully. I'm still optimistic about it and I hope that it will make a nice, clean break for TM!.
------------------

Wait a minute... As far as I've found out Masaki Kajishima was responsible for alot of the ideas in Tenchi that I liked (Goddesses Good!). It did start heading towards the toilet (read: Sh!t Tenchi Muyo in Tokyo) when he left after the OVAs were done.
I take back my vote. Plus he did the origional character designs, I think. Damn I want those designs back (or something a lil' more Saber Marionette-ish). Hell his name is even Masaki. So I'll just sit back and watch.
------------------

Washu, etc.) except for Tenchi, Ryoko, and Ryo-ohki.
STM! could have been something good, but it seemed like the artists and writers just got horribly, horribly lazy and decided to give the show any real depth. Sakuya had potential. I really do think that. Same for Yugi. She was really a psycho little thing. I thought the idea of pairing Ryoko off w/Hotsuma was a nifty idea. I mean, they had these interesting characters and stuff, but it seemed like they just didn't want to take the time to actually come up w/a real plot! And what was w/the "Protector of the Earth" s*** in that series?!?!?! Tenchi's a f***ing Jurain prince!! Why the hell did they feel the need to change that?! >_< The artwork of the show is a whole nother thing which would take way too much for me to get into right now. >_<
------------------

well to say i like "brainpowerd" cause Yoshiyuki Tomino(gundam creator) wrote/created it is insane. the show sucks imo, i have 4 episodes of it and just cant get into it. sure i respect the creators of tenchi but im not gonna just decide its good cause of that.
------------------

Right, well, I skimmed through most of these posts because I don't feel like reading them all (not that I love any of you any less

), but I'm gonna respond anyway.
I love the Tenchi OAVs. TM!U is pretty okay, Pretty Sammy is... Pretty Sammy, and I don't really like Shin(ku?)TM! at all. The first movie was great, the second was... pretty cool... and the third was... Pretty Sammy. (Wait! No! I mean... Pretty SHITTY.

)
Judging from the timeline which these were released, I'd have to say that -- yes! TM! got shittier and shittier as the spinoffs were produced. But that's -okay-. Because I don't watch it if I don't like it!
--Point, right! This isn't some stupid fugging spinoff featuring Tenchi playing the part of a convenience store clerk, who gets plagued by his ex and present grilfs (Ryoko and Aeka, respectively), with a few extra chicks to throw a wrench in the idea (and even a new crappy character because the idea's getting old). No! This is a series that's going to answer all the #$*&*(#&$# loose ends that were left, and to finish the Goddess Arc. (And some other stuff too, but -whatever-!) And maybe one of you already said all this. But I'm saying it again! Viva la Tenchi Muyo!!

for the final series they are gonna have to throw in some new plotline obviously if they want it to be longer then one episode which i think it could be wrapped up in one, anyway that ususally means a new character, probably the biggest and baddest badguy yet. . shocker. . all im saying is i want the show to end and hopefully gracefully without the same ole same ole story. . . like u said tie up all the loose ends but how are they gonna do that over 12 or so episodes when it could be done in one or two?answer: reuse(hopefully not) a storyline and stretch it out. or just make a final movie and concentrate on the characters.
------------------

The Pretty Sammy TV series rocks!

It's just plain awesome! It's a lot better than the very much too short, 3 ep. OAV series. IMO, it's the best mahou shoujo (magical girl) show, and I'm honestly not saying that just b/c it's a spin-off of TM!. Sasami's parent's are the coolest!! I love the family set of carrot-print pj's!! ~_~ That show is just so kawaii! And Ryo-ohki makes such a cute little cabbit boy (yeah, Ryo-ohki's gender is changed in Pretty Sammy). And I haven't even said anything about the opening song! Pretty Sammy could, w/out a doubt, kick Sailor Moon's ass. <IMG SRC="
