But that's the 3rd challenge in the beginner course. How do you unlock songs then? And that's stupid if you can't do anything else until you beat that song. My opinions on that game just went down a notch.
But Barrett and his girlfriend Nikki came over today and we did have a bit of fun with Samba de Amigo. Barrett did pretty good, he was better than me, but even he couldn't get all the way through Take On Me. So now I know it isn't the controllers, the game is just awfully unmerciful. But at least I can do better in that game than Nikki or my mom (maybe it's the genes).
That's why I didn't immedately want to blame the controller for Samba de Amigo. I do suck at these rhythm games. I can't get past the first levels of PaRappa the Rapper or Space Channel 5 either (sorry Ulala, I have failed you ^_^). But I still think it's dumb that you can't do anything past Take On Me in Samba de Amigo. Poor game design, Sega. Poor, poor, poor.
Dang it, why is Sega being such a disappointment lately! They were so cool at E3, but just about all their games that I was interested in for the holidays has come up sour! First Ecco the Dolphin, then Sonic Shuffle, now Samba de Amigo. I think I remember now why I was always a diehard SNES fan.
Sorry, I'm not really disgruntled at Sega. I just went to see a really AWFUL movie that Barrett and Nikki picked out. I had never heard of it before, but I think the title was something like, "Dude, Excuse Me, But Do You Happen To Know Perchance Where I Mislocated My Automobile?" Don't go see it.
--Klonoa
(can Barrett and Nikki pick 'em or what?)

Yamcha! I need your help! I've managed to put down Final Fantasy 9 for the past 3 days to try out my pair of $80 maracas. So I've been trying to play Samba de Amigo for 3 days. I don't know if it's just because I suck, I have no rhythm, or the sensors on these controllers just SUCK, but I CAN'T DO THIS GAME!!! I can barely get past anything on Easy mode, and Normal mode and beyond are just hopeless. I was hoping that once I got these maracas I'd be able to unlock songs, but not so. I've been stuck on Beginner Challenge No. 3: Take On Me for the past 3 days now. In that song, I usually don't get anywhere past the first few seconds before I MISS ONE SHAKE AND IT TAKES ME DOWN TO E LEVEL, HEAVEN FORBID, and then it starts flashing signs that I should be shaking higher or lower, but I can't tell what it's saying because there's MOVING DOTS IN THE WAY!!! One or two seconds later I'll get a Failed screen and have to start over. And it won't let me do anything else until I pass that one challenge. I've tried everything I can think of. I read both instuction booklets tons of times, trying to keep the cords away from the sensors, adjusting the maraca settings to every mode imaginable on the in-game options screen, shaking harder, softer, near my body, away from my body, and I still can't do it right. Am I doing something wrong? Please tell me quick or my opinions on this game are going to go down the toilet!
--Klonoa
(I think I'll crawl back in my hole and play Final Fantasy 9 again. At least you don't have to have rhythm to play that game.)
