I'm asking for a Dreamcast for Christmas this year and I was wondering if anyone could reccomend some good games for me. Ones that I want:
Powerstone (1&2)
Shinmue
Space Channel 5 (I know it's supposed to be a dumb game, but call me silly I like dancing games )
Dance Dance Revolution (it is released in America, isn't it?)
Samba de Amigo
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Capcom vs. SNK
I would also appreciate it if anyone could tell me some good/bad things about the games I've listed so far. Thanks in advance! ^.^v
------------------

However, the ball is in your court for this one.
Space Channel 5 (I know it's supposed to be a dumb game, but call me silly I like dancing games ): Can't say anything about this one.
Dance Dance Revolution (it is released in America, isn't it?): Same Above
Samba de Amigo: Same above
----------------------
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Capcom vs. SNK
I'm going to handle these two togther. Both are great fighting games but are different from each other. MVC2 is a Super-Jumping, 75 hit air combo fest. However CVSNK is more a kin to old skhool (SSF2X: GMC style). You may like both, but the final decision on tha one is up to you.
Hope you like my condensed Gamers Guide.

------------------
Look out Keenspace because you've never seen a guy like this.

Thanks, Heero! I probably should have said this before, but out of all of those listed I've played Powerstone 1, MvsC2, and Space Channel 5. Powerstone will probably be the first I get. It was really the first DC game that I played and I really liked it. I love video games, but I'm not into them enough to know much about them. ^^;;

------------------

Of the ones I've played...
MvsC2: Of the four 2D Capcom fighters I own for the DC, this is the one that is perfect for the "casual gamer." My roommate enjoys it, and he rarely plays fighters (more of a sim player is my roommate). That, and the character selection is silly. Heck the whole game is silly! What else could you call a game with Baby Bonnie Hood the fairy tale psycho, Son Son the mystic monkey priestess with a huge appitite, Amingo the Mexican Cactus, Dan Hibiki: Master of the Taunt, and the Servebot, all 1 and a half feet of him.
CvsS: This one is more of an advanced game than MvsC2. Still, it's a lot of fun, because it brims with personality. Just check out the character intros between Mai and Chun Li, Rugal and Guile, or M. Bison and Geese to see what I mean.
As for the others, from what I've heard, you really can't go wrong with either Powerstone, and SC5 I may want to check out one of these days just to see what all the hype is about. And Sambo De Amigo... well, hell, the concept alone deserves a look!
After that, I'd be remiss if I didn't reccomend Namcomuseum and Midway's Arcade Greatest Hits. 6 old school games for a reasonable price. Of course, if you already have a Playstation, get the versions on that system instead.
[This message has been edited by JIrish (edited 11-19-2000).]

Actually, the best advice I think any of us can give is: RENT A LOT OF THESE TITLES FIRST! Unless you know for certain you like the style of the game, rent it.

1). Buy Dreamcast
2). rent games
3). buy only the ones YOU like (dont buy a game based on how good it is from "someone else")
-Ya"different strokes for different folks"gami

That's the best advice right there. I'll probably go for Powerstone and the ones I've played. I've never actually played Crazy Taxi, but I have seen it played so I'll probably go ahead and get that.

------------------

Let's take a look see at your list, Sakuya:
Power Stone: The first one is pretty good. The second one is better but I prefer to play 2 players instead of 4. Why? Because with 4 players it's near impossible to see your character.
Shenmue: Eh, looks kinda boring to me. If I want realism I'll go outside. I'd only want that game for the arcade where you can play After Burner, Hang On, and Space Harrier.
Dance Dance Revolution: I don't think this one's in the US yet. The PSX version won't be out until next year.
Space Channel 5: I don't think Yamcha and Mutt are ever going to let me forget this game...or at least one of the characters anyway. Yes, it is a dumb game. Yes it is too short. And yes I hate dancing games. But the characters in this game are just too cool (especially those aliens). If you actually like dancing/rhythm games, then you might want to take a look at this.
Samba de Amigo: Remember what I said about that I hate dancing/rhythm games? Well I may just have to eat crow because now that I have Samba de Amigo I am on a quest for the maraca controllers. This game is awesome! Don't miss it if you have a lot of cash lying around! Amigo the monkey is the coolest Sonic Team character since Tails. I'll even forgive Sonic Team for putting Ricky Martin tunes and the Macarena on the list.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: I actually bought this game, and I hate fighting games. That should tell you something right there. Sure it's a button-masher, but with a cast of characters this huge, you can't miss it. With Mega Man, Tron Bonne, Cammy, and the Servebots, I knew I couldn't pass it up. Jeff likes this game too.
Capcom vs. SNK: It's kinda neat to see these characters go at it with each other (that didn't sound good), but this one's more of a traditional fighter, so I'm not too interested in it. If you like these kinds of games, though...
OK, you missed a few must-haves on your list, Sakuya. First of all, you are not allowed to have a Dreamcast unless you get Crazy Taxi. It's awesome. And if you like 3-D platformers, you must get Sonic Adventure and Rayman 2. And since Centipede for DC is 9 bucks at Best Buy, get that one, too. OK that's all. Later!
--Klonoa

OK, renting games is a very good way to find out if you like a game or not. We all do it. But I also think that listening to someone's advice about what games are good is also a excellent game purchasing strategy. Especially if the person giving the advice is of authority, like an avid gamer or a GAME REVIEWER. Who do we know that does that? ^_^
--Klonoa

If you don't mind I'd like to suggest a few more games, namely Crazy Taxi, Jet Grind Radio, Worms: Armagedden, and Quake III
------------------

I mean Dead or Alive 2, Soul Calibur, Cannon Spike (It's way too short, but a blast in multiplayer), Power Stone 2, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, and Skies of Arcadia.

There's a slight timing issue in the game that makes the last boss neigh impossible and I pretty much gave up out of frustration. I seen other folks beat it though. And Space Michael Jackson on the final level was a hoot.
