Strangest RPG's you've ever seen...

Post by PedroSteckecilo »

Inspired by my sudden discovery of The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Manchausen: A Game of Telling Tales and Playing Roles, the rules of which involve wagers, wine and one-ups-manship, no really, drinking, gambling and boasting appear to be core parts of gameplay and the entire thing is written by The Baron himself (or at least in very good mimicry of The Good Baron, but anyone whom disputes the authorship may findthemselves at the end of his rapier in short order).

Anyone else got any truly bizarre discoveries of things you'd NEVER expect to have a roleplaying game?

That's a neat one.

Here's another I just spotted

Spirit of the Season (an add on to Spirit of the Century)
Where you play Holiday Themed Pulp Heroes (such as the daring Secret Santa and his Reindeer Men) and take them against Holiday Villians (for example, the sinister and greedy Doctor Scrooge) in a sort of wacky free for all expansion to Truth and Justice and Spirit of the Century. Looks hilarious.

I almost ended up running a Spirit of the Century game last time holidays cancelled our normal game.
I MUST get this supplement.

I just wish I wasn't saving all my money for Kumoricon next weekend.

Tales From the Floating Vagabond, which is I believe related to TOON, the RPG.

I'm actually running a Spirit of the Century game right now, though it's set in a Rifts-ey WW2 rather than pure pulp WW1. So far my players have faced a platoon of zombies, a dragon-riding Russian baroness, and an immortal Nazi teddy bear--and they almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow. Not to mention working with The Ninth Door, an underground rift-monitoring organization comprised of thinly disguised video game characters. And the quote of the day, which wasn't even something I set up: "Did--Did the invisible velociraptor just give you a wet willy?"

Yeah. I'm having fun. Very strange game.

Girl I was very briefly involved with begged the gaming club I was president of to add "My Little Pony: the RPG" to our games library... showed us the site and everything. For all intents and purposes, it seemed legit until some digging revealed it to be an April Fool's joke. She was crestfallen. Did I mention we were only dating briefly? Yeah, VERY briefly.
