Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
Heck. I don't have the New West book, so I have no idea what the Fennodi look like either.
Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
And I'm thoroughly lost as to what a fennodi is, too. I'm just waiting on something to be posted that I can use. Maybe I should look into buying the New West book.

They look kinda like this :

For the request which I am going to ask of you, please reply with either "Okay" or "Yes".
Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
I'm pretty sure I have New West as a PDF. I'll post a screen capture when I get home from work.

Ha! Seriously though no, I don't think the fennodi are supposed to be green. They have large black eyes and a narrow chin but I don't remember what color they are.

Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
"They are a pale grey color with light tan accents. Their eyes are tiny black dots on the sides of their heads and mounted on small fins or flaps that many people mistake for their ears. These fin-like eye appendages can fold flat against the head, fan forward, and tilt up or down, effectively providing the Fennodi with a 280 degree field of vision. Slits behind the eye fins are their ears. Along both sides of their face, near the jaw, is a flap of skin with three whisker-like fins. Behind each skin flap are three holes which represent the sensitive nose of the D-bee. The mouth is a tiny slit just above the chin while the Fennodi's large, ridged cranium gives the aliens a long head with minimal (human) features and what some have called a Catfish appearance. The body of these gentle D-bees is tall and slender, typically about seven feet (2.1 m) tall with long, thin fingers, arms and legs. Most Fennodi, males and females, are nomads who like to wander, love the land, tend livestock, and mind their own business. They are the friends of all cowboys, most Indians, Lyn-Srial and welcome all people who come in peace, even Wild Psi-Stalkers (who frequently prey upon Fennodi because of their high P.P.E.). Just as humans often have dogs for pets, the Fennodi are often accompanied by Whisker Coyotes, small, psionic dog-like creatures from the Rifts which have adapted well to the deserts and plains of the southwest (Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Lone Star, and Northern Mexico). The Fennodi's other constant companions are the sacred, crescent-shaped Nymbu staff (a sign of peace and travel) and a smoking pipe. They love to smoke, prefer pipes, and are immune to cancer and carcinogens. They are also fond of horses, cowboy hats, boots, vests and the general appearance of the cowboy."

Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
Wouldn't you know that the day I bring in the New West book to work so I can type it up xaq takes care of it for me.
It does kind of look like Admiral Ackbar but the hands are less finny and the eyes are way smaller.
The art for the Fennodi is from Michael Dubisch, http://www.dubisch.com
but they aren't nearly as creepy as his other art.

Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
You know what would be a film popular amongst the troops in the Coalition? Predator. Alien come to Earth to prey on humans, and an elite squad fighting and finally killing it. Discuss.

Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
Predator would be pretty in line with their way of thinking. Also a good set of "What not to do." and "What should he have done differently here?"
I think the Muppets would be popular in Lazlo.

Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
Hah. That reminds me of the creatures from Aliens Unlimited (I think they were called Riathenors) that my Robotech pilot fought against in a campaign when we switched over to Rifts. Had a lot of resemblance to Predators. Symbiotic armor which converted nicely to MDC in the Rifts Universe.
One of the GM's (we rotated GM responsibility among several members of the group) really didn't like it much when my character got out of his mech after they were dead, went up and examined the armor, and expressed an interest in it in a way that the armor chose him as a new host. That GM felt my character became too powerful too quickly (the suit basically made my character into the equivalent of a 6' Robomech with magic spells, based on the ruling by the GM of the campaign that the symbiotic suit had all the magical spells inherent to it) and arranged in a later campaign to put me into a situation I could not survive.
Still, there were fun times while they lasted. One of my favorite moments was when a group of 15 rogue Zentraedi with small-mount Reflex Cannon on their mechs surrounded us, let my cohorts out of the trap (not by choice), but aimed all their Reflex Cannons down at me. I timed it just right to jump and climb up one of the mechs, wait until their Cannons were just ready to fire--all aimed at me--and jump as high as I could off the mech, catching 80% of the mechs in the crossfire. Good times.

Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
Speaking of Robotech Mecha...I've always thought that Protoculture would fit in to Rifts very nicely as TechnoWizardry. It's the whole blend of mysticism and technology that seals the deal for me. I was planning a Robotech/Rifts campaign where one of the REF ships crash landed on Rifts Earth during a space-fold, and the magical nature of the ley lines caused the Protoculture Flowers to bloom, thus bringing in the Invid and such. I thought that Protoculture as Techno-Wizardry seemed to make a lot of sense from that perspective.
Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
I had a buddy GM who brought Robotech/Invid into -every- game he ran... he ran it ragged for so long that I got turned off to not only Robotech, but the whole giant robot/mecha genre.

It's hard enough to find people to play Robotech with, why is it that so many Palladium GMs turn people off like that. About half the people I know who don't want to play Rifts are due to bad GMs!

Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
2 Reasons.
1) Rifts is really easy to abuse due to the wealth of OOCs/RCCs and the lethality of the MDC System.
2) Robotech is so awesome that GMs can't help but include it.

Also, because I can't control my spending habits, I picked up World Book 13: Rifts Lone Star, because it has Dog Boys in it.
As I suspected, the Feral Dog Boys equipment is dependant on whether they are "Free Born" or runaways.
There is some creeeepy stuff in that book. The leaders of the Coalition are messed up.

Re: North Prairie Adventures - Rifts OOC
Just as a side question, for those of you that don't know, my icon is taken from a Group Picture that Narf's D&D thread group commissioned Alina to do. Would everyone be interested in chipping in to have something like that created for our Rifts group? Alina charged us $10 a player for the last one, and it was awesome! I'll put in if you guys do...
