Rushing to my doom in the holey rat room! (1d20=3)

In his haste Simon trips in a rat hole and falls on his face. Being picked up by the collar and dumped back on his feet does not do wonders for his attitude, but he reflects that at least it's better than being in the wrong place when Jakob's flaming arrows snuffed the last of the rat swarm. Grumpily he sets about cleaning the rat gore off his knives before shoving them back in their sheaths. He grumbles in disgust.

"Stupid mechanically inclined rats."

Then an odd thought strikes him.

"Say, I wonder if the rats were the ones who built all the traps in this place? That would be really weird if they did."

OOC: BTW, wasn't their contraption tipping over last time? Whatever happened with that? Also, Invisible Castle's dice officially hate me.

Said the pieman to Simple Simon "Show me first your penny."

(Oops) With a thud and a lot of clatter, the ratly mechanism tips over and falls apart, pieces scattering and/or falling into holes.

Jakob straightens from his crouch and pushes the flaming arrows and corpses into the rat room with his foot, assuming the floor is made of wood, he pays special attention in his efforts to do so.
"Well, that was some rather honey-flavored revenge", he says simply, (and through a grin) as he does so.

Hmm...I thought I posted this.

The room is natural stone and full of rat-holes. As in, there's rat-holes and rat-hole sides and...Rat-holes.

There isn't a door on the other side; there's a slab of tin in a door-shape. It shows no way to open it, save by main force. (Don't know if I posted about that, though. Eh)

Oooh! Tin!

We can make a giant cup to sell pencils out of if this whole adventuring thing doesn't work out.

The crunching of your footsteps on the ground produces a dry sound, rather like cereal being eaten without milk.

Thin, reedy birdsong is faintly audible from outside.

The air is still and close...

This ends your Roguelike moment.

You disable a noise-maker! (It's a flute, attached to a bladder, in one of the holes)

You do not find any devices. However, it looks like a little tugging (with fingers) will get it open.

Missed one!

Korgan does not find any enemies. He does, however, find a few flies already sitting on the rat bodies.

Jakob sets to slowly tugging the tin slab out towards him, just enough so he can peek through the crack that will for between slab and wall, into the compartment beyond.

Rowan readies his blade, torch held high, to cover Jakob as he pries the tin plate open a crack.

Korgan strolls over to the back of the room with a smug grin, confident that he will have to step in and pry the slab of metal from the wall when the rogue fails.

"Pry with the knees and legs, not with the back!"

Aeron sits back and writes in his notes, looking up occasionally to see how the prying is going and to make sure his bow is within arms reach.

Jakob: Fumble test! (1d20 4=15)

Jakob sees a short cave-tunnel which bends sharply to the right a few ahead. The stone is granite and limestone; whatever force carved this tunnel left behind a very rough passage.

Everyone else sees Jakob peeking at something.

The rats are dead. The flies feast.

Jakob slips inside, his crossbow at the ready and ghost-walks down the passage:

First we Hide, then we move silently. (1d20 8=18, 1d20 8=21)

EDIT> Forgot to factor in my "Stealthy" Feat. The rolls should be 20 and 23, respectivly.

After the sharp bend, the path curves slowly to the right. Just as the bend would move out of sight, you see an acute intersection with another tunnel, the two flowing together and then apart. The second tunnel is larger; the floor dips down about three feet over about seven feet across.

You think there might be something beyond that. This second section of tunnel is straighter.

Also, you are vewy quiet and hidden. You don't see any rabbits, however.

Rowan waits at the door, listening intently Listen Check! (1d20+1=15), ready to spring into action and rush forward to join Nightbreeze in combat.

Hmm...'Slips inside' would imply that the slab was left in place.

Korgan picks up the slab of tin by one side and slowly lowers it to the ground so that it covers part of the floor.

(this should make it easier to walk across the crazy holes.)

Yes, I did leave the door in place.
Jakob casts a wary eye and an alert ear down the second tunnel, the one with the elevation change.
Assuming nothing out of the ordinary, Jakob stalks down that corridor. Before the elevation change, the rogue searches for traps.

Spot and Listen for any baddies. (1d20+5=6, 1d20+5=6)

Searching for traps. (1d20+7=10)

Wow, BAAAD rolls.
