Re: Sketchbook Sundays!
Man, now I want to play Unknown Armies even more!
I keep seeing references to it all over the place but nobody else is interested except our Changeling the Lost storyteller, and she's still getting the hang of roleplaying and DMing despite the years we've been gaming with her.
Maybe I can borrow the books some time...

Re: Sketchbook Sundays!
I've had a double-dose of Shadowrun goodness this week - not only are we ramping up for another dose of the Shadowrun storyline, but tonight was also the night that xaq brought back his old Shadowrun campaign. We're lucky enough to have two characters from his old campaign playing, which means that a bunch of the old plot that never got resolved can be carried forward into this new game. I'm especially excited about it, since I get to play my very first regular tabletop character - Willow, the biggest, greenest hippie you'll ever meet.

...A hippie? In Shadowrun?
I've never played the game, but isn't that suicidal?

I think your character is very pretty Alina.

It also helps if said hippie can fire a heavy machine gun one-handed, and is rather lax about that whole 'make love, not war' thing....A hippie? In Shadowrun?

Thanks! She's got a pretty good charisma for a troll, so I wanted to try and make her a bit prettier than your average Trog. I think xaq's reaction upon seeing that sketch was "Cutest. Troll. Ever."I think your character is very pretty Alina.
Re: Sketchbook Sundays!
This is a very rough size and build chart for some of the different races in Shadowrun. It's not entirely accurate, but it was good enough for me to get a bit of a handle on just how much size different there would be between a gnome (like Twitch) and an average Troll (like Lenny).
From left to right, it reads "Gnome", "Human", "Troll", "Orc", "Elf".

Re: Sketchbook Sundays!
In our previous Shadowrun game, we had a gnome rigger named Spoons. She was great friends with my character, Willow the troll, and the two of them were the inspiration for so many of my Lenny and Twitch jokes. The size difference between the two of them was the source of a ton of funny moments in our chronicle, as was the tension between the "life is a video game" rigger and the tree-hugging eco-terrorist hippie. Spoons, if you hadn't already guessed, is the main inspiration for Twitch. However, Twitch is infinitely more likely to blow you up, while Spoons was infinitely more likely to accidentally shoot you with the harpoon gun on her R.V. Both are certifiably nuts.

Re: Sketchbook Sundays!
Gnome? Ok I'm confused now. I thought it was Dwarves. Are there optional rules for gnomes in SR? If so, where can I find em? That sounds interesting.

Re: Sketchbook Sundays!
Gnomes are a metahuman variant on Dwarves. You can find them in the Shadowrun Companion (at least, you could in 3rd Ed... I dunno what they're doing with 4th).

She does have a cute quality.
Probably kill you for saying that, though.

Here's the rest of the Shadowrun team (see, they're not all adorable
)
Clockwise from the top left, we have Caleo, a Mouse Shaman; Spoons, the gnomish Rigger; Kanshi, a Physical Adept with ties to the Yakuza; two very bad drawings of Silhouette, our amnesiac ninja elf-poser; and Blitzkrieg, ex-military hardass and the team's leader.

Re: Sketchbook Sundays!
OK some maybe they're not all "adorable"....
But you've gotta admit that elf posers are cute.
They're like little puppies pretending to be big bad guard dogs!
"Awwww, they think they're worthy of a noble elven souls and the inherent understanding of the wyrld's mysteries that come with it! Silly little guys!"

Re: Sketchbook Sundays!
This is Willow's gun - "Little Jimmy". He's a custom built light machine gun that she modified herself. (She has another gun - a Defiance Short shotgun that she wears like sidearm, but she doesn't fuss over it nearly as much.) She gave it gas-venting, a weighted barrel, a custom grip, and just to top it off, made it proportional to herself so it wouldn't look like she was lugging around a little Nerf gun. (Though, she's since added a bayonet as well.)
I was looking at the stats for a Troll-sized weapon, and trying to figure out exactly how big Little Jimmy would be in comparison to an average pistol. You can see the pistol just below him for a good comparison of size. All I can say it - yikes.

I've been thinking of picking up the book, partly because of this strip.
