Hey Ellimist...if that doesn't work, maybe a rope and grapnel wll serve our needs better? We can attach the grapnel to the loop and pull the door open by brute force. What say you, Korgan? Will Kord bless our endeavor?

"I love how much you all trust me," the cat burgler quipped as he stepped away from the door, letting the druid do his thing. Without pausing for thought, he dragged the ram to about thrity feet away from and immediatly in front of, the door.
The rogue then crouched behind the cover, and shouldered his weapon, and sighted the iron door.

"Did someone ask for cover?" The bard turns quickly with his bow knocked and at the ready, eyeing the door like the hordes of the Abyss were teeming just beyond it. He sets himself up with his bow at the ready, standing as much as possible in the cover of the pillar.

"Ready when you are," Aeron states quietly.
"Nothing is ever easy."

"Just promise me this, Aeron" Jakob said, the grin painted on his face audible in his voice, even though it was pitched for only the bard to hear.

Terra took out her Scimitar and readied in case things came out of that door. "If we need brute force to open this door I can assist if needed but for now I am going to be ready over here, unless someone else needs me," she said while pointing to a spot near where Jakob was but was not standing right next to him as to not blow their cover. She just wanted to be near the door because that was if anything was comming out that is where it would be. Although she did ocassionally glance behind her shoulder just in case something was overlooked. Her smile had faded a bit ago and it would take something comming out for it to show again.

Sheathing his dagger, Rowan looked about for a place to stow his torch as he set his pack off to the side of the room. "Better paranoid and alive than trusting and dead eh Jakob?" he laughed.

"Allright, if Korgan and I pull on the rope, we might be able to get the door open. Er, Jakob, did you perchance see if it was locked? Terra? It also occurs to me that you might not want to jump into the doorway if our allies here are preparing to suppress said area with a hail of archery, no matter what's coming through. I'm sure Ellimist and his lupine companion can stall anything that comes through long enough for us to loose our blades and leap into the fray, and Korgan and I can surely benefit from your athleticism here."

With a wink, Rowan offers his torch to Dareth. "Would you mind terribly hanging on to this for me for a moment or two?"

"Our friend with the lupine started fiddling with the handle before I could give it a tug," Jakob spoke conversationally from behind his cover. "If all else fails, make the gnome do it, hes just been staring at some beat-up furniture and pretty carvings for a while. Truth be told, I'm surprised he ain't ogglin' the women. Guess staring at destroyed tables and carved arches is a slightly safer pursuit, though. Old chistle-abs and yourself can probably break the lock, anyway."

@Simon: My apologies for missing your post. Simon: Int check: What is this room? (1d20+3=15) Judging from the position of the tables and chairs, this was a place people could relax, talk and perhaps eat before moving further into the complex. The archway never held a door, or at least there are no hinges, rusty, rotting or otherwise. Juding from the weapons and the battering ram, someone came here prepared for a fight - And got one.

@Everyone: The door doesn't seem to want to move, at first, but it slowly moves outwards, as if something were resisting the pull. As the door begins to open fully, you see something. It's small, grayish and looks like an upright lizard. Quite frankly, spotting a kobold does wonders for your confidence...Until it lurches forward. Seems it's missing half its brain and its guts are visible through a rent in its stomach...

Zombie kobold. And zombies seldom travel alone...

Initiative: (Undead: 1d20=2, Jakob: 1d20=16+4=20, Simon: 1d20=15+2=17, Korgan: 1d20=2+3=5, Elana: 1d20=8+2=10, Ellimist: 1d20=15+2=17, Rowan: 1d20=12+5=17, Aeron: 1d20=3+3=6, Terra: 1d20=13+2=15, Dareth: 1d20=4+2=6)
Initiative Tie-breaker (Simon: 1d20=19+2=21, Ellimist: 1d20=19+2=21, Rowan: 1d20=6+5=11, Aeron: 1d20=20+3=23, Dareth: 1d20=5+2=7)
Simon: 1d20=18+2=20, Ellimist: 1d20=15+2=17
Order: Jakob, Simon, Ellimist, Rowan, Terra, Elana, Aeron, Dareth, Korgan, Undead.

Jakob, too keyed up to relise its a zombie for the critical second it takes to squeeze the firing lever, launches a bolt directly towards the kobolds center of mass.
(Ranged attack: +Dex mod (4), zero BAB)
It is only after he fires that the human releases a blue-toned explative, causing him to pause for a fraction of a second in horror as he reflexivly reaches to reload his weapon.

"Bah! Uglier than the original, though probably still smarter," Aeron curses, letting fly his arrow toward the once-dead mess standing in the doorway. (Shortbow: d20 + 4)

Reaching into his quiver for another arrow, Aeron cocks his head toward Jakob and smiles. "It's not paranoia if they are really out to get you, my friend! Have at them!"
"Nothing is ever easy."

OOC: *Shrugs* Eh, we just happened to post at the same time. It happens.

IC: Simon looked over at the iron door pursuant to Jakob's assessment and nodded in agremeent. Something was making more use of that door than was being made of those discarded weapons. At least there were no corpses or bones around, so most likely that meant the more dangerous stuff was farther inside, as one might expect.

When the druid moved to open the door with his staff, Simon unslung his shortbow and nocked an arrow. Just because there didn't seem to be a trap on the door didn't mean there wouldn't be something nasty behind it. And sure enough, there was. It didn't take Simon 2 seconds to recognize the creature as a kobold. He loosed an arrow aimed straight for the creature's head, his shaft following right on the heels of Jakob's crossbow bolt, only to realize after the fact that his target wasn't the usual living sort of kobold but a zombified one. He cursed under his breath as he readied his next arrow.

"Shades take it! A bloody zombie! How do you kill something that's undead?"

Simple Simon met a pieman going to the fair;
Said Simple Simon to the pieman "Let me taste your ware."
Said the pieman to Simple Simon "Show me first your penny."
Said Simple Simon to the pieman "Sir, I have not any!"

When it is my turn I will shoot the kobold with my light crossbow. I have to be at school early tomorrow, so I am going to sleep now.

"At the moment, my dear friend," Jakob called across the field in Gnomish, having recovered his wits enough to jest and switch languages, "The prevailing tactic seems to be to shoot it."

Grunting as he felt the handle turn, Ellimist heaved the door open (proving a little difficult, as he wasn't the strongest of the party.)
He then lept back in shock as a short but rotting form shambled out of the doorway space.

He quickly flips around, striking at the zombie with his staff, while his animal companion snarls and jumps into the fray.

((Wolf will make a trip attempt if her attack succeeds))

"Careful where you're aiming!" He shouts to his companions as several bolts and arrows whiz by him.

Terra had moved more toward the people opening the door, afterall it seemed like for a bit that her assistance might have been needed. When it opened to see what came out of it, her smile did not reappear for it was just one ... probably for now. Terra then noticed that people have went for more of a ranged attack against the undead thing that came out. Seeing as how it was only one running up to it would probably just turn her into a pin cushion with the people going bow crazy, but it was a risk she was willing to take.

(( Ummmm when it is my turn I would like her to move to the side of the monster if she can and well use her scimtar agianst it to slice it ^^ ))

(edit) Korgan narrows his eyes at Dareth before moving into action. He glances past the first critter (that's likely killed before his initiative) to see how many wait in the next chamber) then he moves up for a flanking position next to the door. "Hey sword swinger, come over and help me set up a grinder for the little bastards!"

Whether or not one of the fighters comes and helps, Korgan will attempt to bash the next baddie through the door with his heavy mace.

(The adjective before "bastards" is dependant on there being more small sized zombies behind the first, through the doorway. Darkvision should reveal movement and shapes in the gloom of the next room. Korgan currently has Aid, 2 Bless spells, Detect Magic, and Enlarge Person.)

Dareth bows aside from his position next to Korgan and says in polite, serious-sounding (belied by a small hidden smile) Dwarven "I believe our companions would benefit from a display of your expertise. After you, Father."

(this of course is before Korgan's action)

Jakobs' crossbow bolt sails past the zombold and through the doorway. A split second later, there is a clatter, as of a crossbow bolt hitting stone. Jakob: Crossbow: Attacking kobold zombie (1d20+4=8, 1d8=6)

Simons' shortbow arrow wistles right past the zombolds' ear. A split second later, there is a 'Ting!', as of a steel arrowhead hitting iron. 1d20+3=12, 1d20+3=18, 1d6=5 (Note: I decided to roll two d20's in case of a critical)

And then Ellimist jumps back, removing his quarterstaff from the door loop, which promptly obeys the pressure on it and slams shut on the zombold. You hear a sickening 'SQUNCH'. It sounds like an Iron Door damage: (1d10=10)

And then there's a click...And it appears that the walls holding the four bowls are, in fact, secret doors. And, well, you now know what happened to some of the adventurers who came here. How can I put this? 'They slumber not, nor do they sleep. Deaths' hold is now mocked; with eyeless sight they flock'. Well, not my best work. Or, to put it bluntly, there are two skeletons in three niches and only one on the left-hand back side.

Honestly, I didn't think the zombold would be the one to trip the trap. It was just supposed to be bait.
