Ultramarines or nothing, thanks. They are statistically vanilla enough not to be looked upon by other players as "beardy" and they have interesting lore.

Oh, and found out why out of print, apparently, GW yanked the dark industries licensing to to some money skimming or something. The books supposedly will go back into print by a different company it seems. Or at least that is what I was told by the local distributor here.
Wait...

GW shut down Black Industries, yes. The stated reason was simple: The people that were doing the Black industries stuff could turn significantly larger profits-per-hour doing standard GW stuff. The license for Dark Heresy was then picked up by Fantasy Flight games, about a month or so ago, if I've got my dates straight-ish.

Is that more up-to-date than your info? Or are you talking about something that happened since then?

Well, I heard that just the other day. Yours is probably the same news, just the details more accurate. I rarely concern myself with news surrounding games and such. Soh yours is probably a more detailed version of what I was saying, and knew about it before I did.
one lvl barbarian, rest lvl wizard. Str 20, int 18. Spell book in one hand, greataxe in other.
I mean really? Is there a better half orc?

Ah. Yeah, I have this weird compulsion to track such stuff. Not sure why.

You just like staying abreast of things. You're certainly not the only gamer geek I know who likes to keep up with gaming news.

Actually, Alina and I were talking at one point about setting up a game-designer/gaming webcomics podcast... invite people we know locally like you, Dave Gaider, and Trent Y, as well as gamer comic people like Tarol Hunt, Rich Burlew, Eric Burns, etc etc. It was an interesting idea, anyways.

That'd be, like, super-wicked. I will warn you, though, that I have a *lot* of, like, almost-unbelievably weird ideas about the way game design and the industry do work and could work.

Game creation is awesome. I have actually been working on one myself that follows another one of my story draft. It is a military war game that is designed to be played team vs team, rpg (both you control one power unit per player) or a large war game. Unlike normal miniatures, you do not by a force of boxes, instead you buy and individually the parts and units to your taste allowing for a very diverse mixture and forces unique to your tastes. It won't be done for a while though since I won't start modeling the miniatures until I get the actual novel well under way.

Want a space marine, eh? Well, there's an excellent fan suppliment here:

I'm quite happy with Dark Heresy so far. The initial version was a bit of a rush, but FFG is revising it a bit, in a printing or two it should be a high-quality game. The new lead designer, Ross Watson, also seems somewhat active in the community, (forums and such) which is a surprising trait for an RPG developer. He found one James Savage and I through the fan site Dark Reign, and has actually asked us to help compile a FAQ/Errata. To that end, anything you don't like or are confused by, ask away. :)

I like to play nobles, myself. Or any kind of techpriest.
